I want to make a granny sqaure afghan, but I have been searching the web to find differnt kinds of granny sqaure style such as the one that start off as a flower and then I can finish it with the granny square. I want to make a multiply of granny squares that I can stitch together in the end. Does anyone have any suggestions please e-mail at penson@bellsouth.net/

I made a granny afghan with only 3 rounds, 2 for the flower on for the background to make into a square. I used the pattern out of Leisure Arts 2549, A Year of Afghans Book 5. It's a connect as you go and the motif is just over 3 inches. This book also has another one that makes much larger squares (over 15").

Have you tried www.crochetpatterncentral.com ? I am sure they probably have a few grannies that start out as flowers.

You could get the book 101 Crochet Squares by Jean Leinhauser. There are several flower squares. There is also a couple of leaflets that are just flower squares. I got them for my daughter. One is 99 Floral Motifs, but I can't lay my hands on the other one right now.

Hope that helps.

Or, you might check out 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1931499683/ref=pd_bxgy_img_b/103-4378881-1670250?%5Fencoding=UTF8)... This one is pretty popular and so should be easy to get thru the library.
