TShell~
I spent almost an hour on this one yesterday, using Anna's from her server, and when that didn't work, trying to host it on my own server, changing the names in her example to what I actually needed. Eventually, I ended up with it on my own server, but I had to "view source" and find the code on someone else's blog to figure out what was wrong. In my case, it was an extra "percentbar.swf?" in the path, although I still haven't figured out how that happened...
Update~While writing this I went back to Anna's page to look at her code closer, and I think the problem is the pnavy address she has listed, it doesn't seem that she's using that addy anymore.
Try downloading/uploading the file needed first, then following the directions she gives (http://annamation.ca/annaknits/freeblogstuff.php) for which areas need to be changed, that should fix it.

Just thought I'd give an FYI to anyone who didn't know, photobucket.com (http://photobucket.com) is now allowing uploading of flash/swf files into your albums.

I've been looking for those silly progress bars for weeks! I'm so glad that I found this thread...I added one to my site, and it was very easy. I did have to download the .swf file and post it on photobucket for it to work, though.
Thanks again, guys! This information was really helpful!

I have the code and the shockwave file, if you email me at my personal email account, I could email it to you since ezboard won't let you really do code in the ezemail box. I have my shockwave code stored in my photobucket account to link from just as you would a photo.

I hacked together some simple little progress bars for my page... no src necessary, but a bit of html. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I'll help you with yours. (Or just feel free to "steal" the html from my blog: noricum.blogspot.com (http://noricum.blogspot.com).)

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a Mac so could someone please help me out. Thanks in advance! I also tried the scrolling banner and it didn't work. It must be me I swear. Sorry to be a hassle ladies. :computer Stupid computers!!

If you go to Anna's link now, she has uploaded the swf file to a main server for everyone to use. It's a different code that is below the do-it-yourself one.
I uploaded the swf file to my web page provided by my ISP (comcast).

Bec, could it be that you don't have the flash plugin (or whichever one it is) installed on your system? I don't really know anything about Macs, but if you try putting it up again and post the link, I'd be happy to see if it shows up on my end...

I found problems with Anna Tut. Can't surely remember what it was. I left a comment on there, as well as many others in her tag board. So what I had to do was look through the different blogs that had percentage bars, and view the coding to figure it out. I think Anna bars were too small for me anyways. If you are interested, you can view my coding and any other questions PM me.

Okay I got the bar, but I can't figure out how to get the 90% center in progress bar. It is on my blog right under my profile.

Okay I got the bar, but I can't figure out how to get the 90% center in progress bar. It is on my blog right under my profile.
You mean that you want to move the 90% to the dark purple part of the bar?
I think Andrea covered that in her tutorial. Basically you move the 90% from where it is on the line with the td width of 10 to the line above with the td width of 90 ...
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" frame="void" align="center"><tr>
<td align="left" valign="middle">
<table border="1" cellspacing="0" frame="border" align="left"><tr>
<td align="left" valign="middle">
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" frame="void" align="center"><tr>
<td width="90" height="10" align="center" valign="middle" bgcolor="#3b003c">90%</td>
<td width="10" height="10" align="center" valign="middle"> </td></tr></table></td></tr></table></td></tr><tr>
<td align="center" valign="middle"> Dad's Birthday Gift </td></tr></table>

What I can't quite figure out is how one determines how far along one is on the WIP. Do you go by rounds completed (although later rounds obviously take longer, so I'm not sure if this would work)? Lines on the pattern completed? Or just eyeball it? :think

Good question! For things like doilies where it definitely gets larger as you move out, I usually go by rounds but occasionally I go by percentage of stitches remaining.
For things like afghans or sweaters, I go by how much I have complete. For example, I have a baby sweater in the works, and the sleeves, back, and half of the front are done. I figure a sleeve is 15%, the back is 30%, the front is 30%, and assembling is 10%.
For socks, each sock is 50%, and then I just estimate the rest.
It doesn't have to be exact! :)

Apparently anna isn't on the web anymore. I went there today to get me some progress bars and everything has vanished. Could some helpful person email me the code for her percentage bars please. It would be muchly appreciated.

Have had a blog reserved for what seems like forever but just recently started actually doing something with it. I have a long way to go yet in getting things set up but did manage a post for easy, transparent bars that uses a script. You just copy/paste it as outlined into your page element. Hope someone finds this useful.:)

If you use WordPress and have it on your own server, the Needle Exchange has some really nice bars, and the sheep one is super-cute.
