Long Stitch?

I'm working on an old thread pattern & this has me baffled.

"Round 2: 12 long into the 7 chain". There is no instruction, description, or close up photo to give me a clue.

alosha, are you talking about the long stitch, how you do that is to put your hook in the row before and then pull it up. so you will have the reg st

then you add demention with the long stitch
