I just went to this place yesterday. It is fairly new. An absolutely beautiful yarn boutique, oh my goodness! The yarns they have, the colors, the textures! Honestly, having always been broke, I had never even seen yarn like this. I spent $45 and I was being cheap. Though it's not possible to be super cheap here, no $2.17 Red Heart skeins. I saw hanks up to $43 in the silk and cashmere section. But they do have some stuff in the $4-$6 range and that's mostly what I bought. Actually, I got a few Berroco Softwist for $4.40 each and when I looked on the internet, I found that that was actually cheaper than it is at any website I saw.
I think they also have a gathering of some sort on Thursdays, heard people talking about it, but I don't know much about it.
Just had to recommend this place. It's in the South Loop.

Thanks, Nikki. I just learned of this place, too, but haven't been there yet. Can't wait to visit.

I was up in Chicago the other day and went here. It was fabulous!!!! The yarn was so nice, and the ladies who worked there were both really really helpful. Kudos to them!

I also highly recommend Mosaic Yarns in Des Plaines if you're every up this way. It's right by the Metra station.

I'll have to keep Mosaic Yarns in mind next time I'm in the area. Do they have a website?

I just went into my first LYS today! I went into Arcadia Knitting. It was nice, but I went there strictly for the fall Interweave Crochet. Glad to hear about other Chicago-area stores. I figure the more experience I have in crocheting, the more I can spend on yarn. Right now, the most expensive yarn I've bought is from Joann at a whopping $4/skein. Doesn't help that I live 3 minutes from Joann either.

Hey thanks for the info. I drive by Loopy yarn everyday and have never had a chance to stop in. Arcadia is on my way home some days as well. Now I know that they are good places to shop, I'll have to make a point of dropping in.

http://www.fringeknitting.com/ on the outskirts of Fox Valley Mall in Aurora is the LYS I went to yesterday. Decent selection and very helpful staff. They even wound two hanks into balls for me. Be careful if you're allergic to dogs, the owner had her very cute and well behaved Husky in the store.
