Got a circular in the mail yesterday and said yarn for $1 a skein. Not bad. Kind of an eyelash, a wooly kind and a fluffy kind. All of polyester or acetate stuff. Looks interesting, though. I got a little of each. :)

I also saw the circular. I went to a Big Lots and the selection wasn't that good. There were very few colors and I didn't like the feel of the yarn. I didn't buy any. Please post after you've used the yarn and tell me what you think of it. There's another Big Lots that might have a better selection.

Hello-
I bought about 30 skeins for scarves, bags etc. I bought the "sereno" eyelash and I feel that it is pretty soft yarn for eyelash. This seems to be a quality yarn from Australia- and while I may not use it for baby items or youth garments it's not bad. There was a variegated variety- "Crinkle" that has a silver lurex type strand and I purchased some of that. I think the red tones may make some nice flowers. It is mostly acrylic-handwashable/approx. 50 yard skeins. I am going to partner the eyelash with some worsted and see how that turns out. I felt it was a nice bargain for 1.00- and worlds above the previous Target 1.00 yarn. I grabbed a bunch of it because I felt it would run out. I also teach so If it wasn't great- the kids at school could play with it anyway-so no loss.
I'll post results with this project. Check it out if you have a Big Lots Near you-

The Big Lots I went to had no selection at all. Only one skein of an eyelash type. The rest was "baby suede" for 1.99 a skein. I might stop back by to see if they have gotten anything out after this weekend.

I'm lucky that my town is known for having the best Big Lots for "stuff" rather than the one for food like the next town. They always have a large selection of yarn. I saw this eyelash stuff, lots of colors, in a bin, another bin stuffed with the Jewel Box with a smaller bin of some kind of ticker tape, and yet another table with some sort of worseted weight yarn (just 3 colors: tan, aqua, and lavendar). Everything was $1.00 for a small skein except for the $1.99 Jewel Box. I was so mad. During Christmas, they had some Caron Christmas yarn, and I kept waiting for that to go on clearance after the holiday because it sat on the shelf forever. They must have discounted it before I came back, because the last 3 times I've been there, I've searched high and low, yet there is no Christmas yarn to be found. :(
When I say search, I do mean it. This store has yarn with the scrapbooking stuff, more with small electronics, and more in the front near the seasonal items.
