I am teaching myself, and I can find all kinds of info on the net about foundation chains and the first row of single stitches... but I'm having trouble with where to go from there! So far the 8 rows I've made are all "top" rows... but should I be switching as I go?
The way I've been doing it is alternating the direction I wrap my yarn around the hook each row... is this correct?

Maybe this link, with photos, will help:
http:www.crochetcabana.com (http://www.crochetcabana.com/)
Click on "Basics" and then on "Single crochet"
I tried writing the exact link, but it doesn't go to the page. So, you'll have to scroll and click.
There is another site with little online videos for making stitches, but I can't think of the name of it right now.

Gran,
Thank you :)
I do have another site with videos, but they aren't helping me much  (I just get confused easily!)
But I'll check out crochet cabana!
