I really would like a tank like this but I don't knit. I've looked thru 3 or 4 stitch guides (Stitch Bible, Donna Kohler's, Readers digest, Harmony Guides)) and can't find any similar stitch pattern in crochet. I'm thinking to turn it into crochet I would need to convert the pattern to a side-to-side instead of bottom-to-top. Has anyone run across a stitch pattern in crochet that may work for this? I also thought about using a chevron stitch but am worried I'd loose the soft drapability. Thanks much...

Knitting or crocheting you'd make it bottom to top. It could be done in the round or flat and sewn together.

If you use a sport or sock yarn and a hook a bit larger than normal for the yarn, you should maintain the drapability. It's made from a sport weight cotton yarn.

I have the Needles to Hook book. Almost looks like a Bare Branches Stitch Pattern. Which would be a diagional rib stitch. It uses a front post stitch and sc. PM me if you want more info.

Hmmmm...maybe Lion Brand Microspun or perhaps a Size 3 mercerized cotton? Or maybe go to your local yarn store and check on some of their sport weight/fingering weight cottons.

I realize I can crochet/knit from the top or bottom but thought if I made it side to side that would open up more stitch pattern possibilities. The slightly larger than normal hook is definitely a good idea. I'll have to play around with this for a while.

I've already ordered the Shine from Knitpicks website for this figuring it would work best as that's what the designer used.

Branch stitch? I'll PM you about that - sounds interesting.

Thanks everyone who responded.
