I love this pattern! It's a little more fancy than most of them and shows off your crochet work nicely. No excuse not to have one to match every purse! My stash is down to some small leftovers and I'm saving my money for the CGOA convention so this is perfect timing! Thanks!:hug

PJ,
I made your cell phone holder yesterday in heathered gray Wool-Ease. It's a very nice pattern! I was a little confused before I got the idea of the shape, but from then on it was smooth sailing. The Wool-Ease works fine, and I figure that will be my winter cozy, because the wool is a bit scratchy to wear around the neck without a sweater. Otherwise I plan to make one in cotton for the spring/summer.
Really a fantastic pattern! Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed the pattern...basically it starts out with a two-round granny square and on the 3rd round you skip opposite corners.
I think making them in cotton yarn for the summer is a fab idea! I'll have to give that a go myself.

I think someone experienced in making granny squares would have no problem. I was a little confused because I have never made them before. But I figured it out!

I made your cell phone pouch last night and it was a fun little project. I've only ever used a slip stitch to join something so all that slip stitching was different for me but very quick and fun to do. I love what it did to stabalize the strap and top edge. Tonight, I plan to add a few flowers to the pouch.
Thanks for sharing!

That's so nice. What seems to work (if I may beat my own drum) is that there's a closure on the top and it's easy to make :)

I like your pouch but....I see on your avatar that you are a red sox fan??? I guess this means we are arch rivals. (yankees all the way) Can we still be friends? I mean we both crochet and all so you can't be THAT bad...:lol

Ok, I FINALLY got one of these made (note to self: the slip stitches look weird when using verigated yarn) I made a short chain and hooked a "carbineer clip" thru the hole after closing and hook the clip on my belt loop, purse handle/strap or anywhere else it will hook... I made the chain long enough so that I can take my phone out thru the side but when it is clipped it stays closed because of the weight of the phone holding it down. Thanks again for a great pattern!

You're welcome! Glad you enjoy it! Love the carbineer clip idea. I recently got an MP3 player and have found that by making the pouch a little smaller, it works for that too!

I like this design, it has a unique way of securing the phone to the bag. I mean most cellphone bags usually just have a flap closure with a button/bead.

:yes This is a great pattern - just the thing to replace the broken (expensive) leather cover for my little phone. I love the idea of making one for my iPod too - I'm going to try that next, with a thinner yarn maybe bamboo?
Thank you for sharing the pattern. I'm also granny square challenged & thought I was doing something wrong until I got to row 3, then it all began to make sense:lol

That's very nice and different than most cell phone holders. I've been wanting to make something that was different looking. Sometimes I don't want to take my purse with me, just my cell phone and I.D. I think I will give this a try! :hook Thanks for sharing the pattern :yay

Update!
I've been making my cell phone pouches again.
One of my friends has a phone a bit slimmer than mine so I used a G hook and used half double crochets instead of double crochets in the pattern (just also remember at the beginning of each row to chain 2, not 3 if you use half doubles).
Also I made a couple for a girl at work who has a very thin phone (probably about 2-inches wide and it's fairly long). For hers I used an F hook and also used the half double crochets, and worked 11 rounds using baby yarn.

These are so cute. I have a new video camera (the Flip video (http://www.theflip.com/index.shtml)) and I want to make a case for it. It is just about 4"x2". This is perfect because the loop makes it easy for carrying.

Glad you like them, by adjusting the crochet hook size and working the regular method of the half-double method, you should be able to come up with a size that works for you...you might want to post here what you used to fit your Flip Video! Thanks.
