I'm looking to make a scarf, and it needs to be "bumpy". It might sound odd, but it needs to give the impression of baked beans. I have seen things with bobbles / popcorn before, but I'm not sure how to make them. Any assistance would be appreciated. :)

I have no idea how to do it, but I really want to hear why you need to look like baked beans!!:lol

Here's how to make a popcorn stitch (http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/content.html?content_id=12) on the Annie's Attic site. They even include a video. It's pretty easy to do.

I want to see your "baked bean" project when you're done. :lol

An easy way to get bumps in your project is on the wrong side of it do sc, tr, sc, tr, sc. Make sure your tr poke out the right side of project.

Clear as mud? :hook

You will have to have an odd # of sts for this to work.

That's my favorite quick way to do it. I do a row of sc or hdc then turn and sc tc across. Then a row of sc or hdc and continue on. Makes a wonderful border, too on blankets or afghans. This one has one on it.
