As much as I don't like Santino and am sooooo glad he didn't win I absolutely loved this piece from his collection last night. In the pic it's hard to see it correctly but I would love to make a crocheted piece of this item. What do you guys think? Could this be a trend?

Click here (http://www.newyorkmetro.com/fashion/fashionshows/2006/fall/main/newyork/womenrunway/santinorice/#) to see another pic of this item. (It's the 7th pic from the left.)

It was actually more than a cape as it had like almost a tiny shirt underneath. I wish there was another pic that showed more of it at different angles. Anyway, like I said, it was much more than just a cape. I absolutely loved this and I could be wrong but I think we may see some things like this in fashion...

It's really cute...I could see this done up in the Lion Brand Suede yarn...or the velvet yarn they have...

all you would have to do is follow pretty much ANY capelet pattern out there and make it solid instead of lacy

Well see, it's not just a cape. It's actually attached to a kind of vest/shirt. That's what I loved about it. Unfortunately the pic doesn't show it good but if you look closely you can see that the cape is a seperate but attached piece of a vest/shirt item below... I will have to look around and see if I can find any other pics...

Does it also have a narrow shawl collar? Didn't see the show but what I like about it from the photos is the way it sits on the shoulders and has a very open decolletage. This IS different from your typical capelet which tends to be tighter around the neckline or even tied at the neck.

I see Elizabeth's point that the neckline must be due to attaching it to the shirt below.

It is a cool design

That's very pretty, and I like the Chocolate Brown color (at least on my computer that's what it looks like). I do agree - capes are the next big trend. I love them. I like the way they stay on your shoulders better than a shawl, and you don't have to pull it over your head like a poncho. I've only designed three, but I plan to do more. I ordered a Newport News catalog for inspiration. I love the cream-colored cape in there (Thanks, to whoever posted the link to their site). I envisioned it with pearl beads worked in. If I can see a good picture of it, I can make it. Of course I'll tweak it to my own vision though. Here are a couple I made last year. I know the one you want is more solid, and not pointy though. Thanks Donnalyn for posting the pic. I'll check out the other pics, too. :hook I wish I was as skinny as she is!! :devil

I don't understand why, but, although I shrunk these pics down to a smaller size, when I posted it went back to the big size. :think Oh well.... :shrug
