This is a donut pincushion

Since I can't find this pattern, can anyone give me an idea how to crochet something similar? I thought maybe the donut was crocheted in a tube and stuffed before joining. The icing is also giving me problems.

I look forward to your ideas and suggestions ......:idea

Could you make a ring, then sc in one loop of the chain only, increasing as needed to make the top of the doughnut, end off, then do the same thing on the other side, then join the two halves together?

As for the frosting, I'd probably crochet it seperately then tack it on.

I've never crocheted doughnuts before, but that's how I"d try it anyway.

Maybe you could start with a jelly doughnut. :devil

I would probably join a chain with a slip stitch about the size I want the hole/center to be, increase to get the height and width, then decrease back down to original hole size, flip the small parts in until they meet, then stuff and sew the middle together.

This may only make sense to me. Sorry if so.

Thanks hiphooker & 13bodies, I tried your suggestions and I think my first donut came out very well. Next time I'll make it a wee fatter or use shorter pins.
