I have 3 weddings to go to this summer and I want to make a shawl out of a white and sparkle size 10 thread. Any patterns (free ones are even better!) would be very helpful. I'm not an advanced crocheter, but I am willing to try. Thanks a bunch

Hi! I've made several thread shawls in the past and I'm doing a couple right now. One of my favorite pattern is the Spring has Sprung shawl. I used size 10 thread instead of Bernat Softee Baby which the pattern suggested. The pattern is here:

Here's the shawl I made for Lynlee using that pattern: (scroll down)

There's a beautiful butterfly shawl in the book Designer Fashions. It's my WIP along with the thread shawl for my swap partner.
I hope you'll post pictures when you finish one as I would love to see it. Good luck!

Jaclim, what size hook did you use for the shawl? It says to use an H (16 mm), I was hopeing that it was something a little smaller so I can start today, and not have to buy a new hook :lol. Thanks a bunch

haha, never mind. I was looking at the wrong column in the conversion chart :lol I'm going to go start that with a 5mm hook. :blush

ok, I have a question for you :lol
in row 2 it says : (Sc,ch2, dc) in first ch-2 sp.
where exactly is the ch-2 sp? do you do the sc in the first ch in the sp, ch 2, then do the dc in the second ch? I have no idea:think

Ch 19
Row 1 dc in 7th ch from hook,( ch 2 skip next 2 ch, dc in next ch ) 4 times. ch 5 turn. [You will ch 5 at the end of each row through out.] (You will have 5, ch 2 spaces )
Row 2 ( dc, ch 2, dc ) in first ch 2 sp, ( ch 2, dc in next ch 2 sp ) 3 times, ch 2, ( dc, ch 2, dc ) in the last ch 2 sp. [ 7 dc ]

I used another copy of this pattern than the one on the site linked. This is the correct way to start Should make a little more sense. The spaces between the dc are your ch 2 spaces you are suppose to work into. Dont work into the chains themselves, just the space they have created. Hope this helps.
