Now I KNOW I have seen a couple websites done BY kids FOR kids of easy crochet items, but I lost everything when my puter crashed.... Any ideas? My 9 1/2 year old daughter has been bugging me to no end about wanting to learn to crochet so tonight I taught her to chain :) We will go on to single crochet tomorrow :yay She is so excited! I want to find her a small simple easy project for her first pattern to follow, but I am at a loss for what to show her....

What was your first project? Did you ever teach anybody to crochet? How about a kid? What did you give them for thier first project?

BTW, my daughter did make a knifty knitter hat and wears it (almost) everyday to school, she is so proud of it!

I'd love to find a site like that too. I taught my friends 9yo daughter how to do a chain while I was visiting last time, but I live in a different province and didn't have time to show her anything else. So any websites people can suggest for kids is great!

I have a daughter that is 9 and a niece that is 11 who just learned how to crochet. They love to make the basic granny square and also the 11 year old is starting to make skull caps. There getting very good at reading patterns. I sometimes will write out simple patterns for them to read. It is funny to watch the try to teach some of the other girls. They do a better job then I do.:think

My first project was a pillow (I still have it and treasure it, btw), and it was easy - no shaping, and I just kept going until I got to the right size. I would suggest anything that uses simple stitches and no shaping. Dishcloths, scarves, etc. I wish I had a website to suggest, but I've never seen any. Hopefully someone else will know of the sites you're talking about.

I taught my sister to make cat toys (a little mouse). It was very easy, I wish I could remember where the pattern was. It's a toss up who had more fun, the cat or my sister!

here are a link, not sure if it's the right one or not!
