I love the look of the felted Booga bags I've seen on the net, but they are all knitted.
Does anyone have any info on how to crochet one?
Thanks!

Vivian, I've never heard of a booga bag, do you have a link to a picture??

Hope you don't mind my answering. It is a widely popular knitting pattern:
Booga Bag (http://www.blacksheepbags.com/booga_bag.html)
(Found by going to KPC (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com) and typing Booga into the site search bar.)
There aren't so many felted crochet patterns as there are in knit, although there are some.
What is available (http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/felted_items.php)

There are lots more if you google it, also. But I've not seen one crocheted yet.

Wouldn't the Well Travelled Bag (http://wildyarn.blogspot.com/2005/10/well-traveled-bag.html) pattern do??
It has the same shape, at least I think it does, I made it & it turned out great!

Marlo's got some neat felted bag patterns on her site for sale...I think the felted rectangle bag resembles the booga bag....check it out....

Also, this book by Paton's has felted patterns in both knit & crochet-each item can be made with either knit or crochet. The drawstring bag can be easily modified I would think to resemble the booga bag:

I would guess that you would crochet a square base and then commence crocheting in the round once you have a base you're happy with. If you don't want an i-cord for the strap, you could do a half-double crochet cord and felt it.

My crocheted diaper bag (http://funkyhooker.blogspot.com/2006/03/crocheted-felted-diaper-bag.html) might work as well. Its a little wider, but that just makes for more room inside. Just eliminate the pockets, unless you'd like pockets.

Monica, your diaper bag looks great! When you sewed it together, did you just use a machine? (That's probably a dumb question!)

I just made and felted the orange bag on marlo crochet and LOVE :manyheart it. I was a little concerned about the process but I again LOVE :manyheart it. SO pretty and the pattern worked up great. I did frog it and use a smaller hook (h) inplace of the size she called for and used the fishermans wool. It is fantastic :cheer
I am making some pockets now.
Will post photos later but had to reply I would recommend this pattern to all that wants the wonderful shape as apposed the to straight sides of the well traveled bag.
Regards,
m
