Wow. This "code" went out to many of us who have had orders delayed in shipping. Joann's is famous for lots of coupons, but they can't be thrilled that this was spread around for everyone. Then again, with the internet, how can they expect it not to spread?
Now I feel like I wasn't compensated for my late order. Oh well. I still like Joanns for the notification. :)

Well the code worked for me but I've been sitting here waiting for it to process my order for almost 20 mins! It says not to click "complete order" more than once so I don't want to click it again, but I can't exactly sit here all day waiting...
The site is very very slow just searching on yarns and such.
I hope the sale goes through as it's a great deal!

Must be so slow from everybody trying to get the sale! Really, how could they expect it not to spread over the internet. I bet if they really wanted it to be limited, they would have restricted it by email address or user account or something. Believe me, I'm not complaining. What to buy, what to buy . . .
Thanks for the code!

FYI, the site is now down. It says "for scheduled maintanance" however I don't know what the problem is.
After completing my order and my computer sitting there I called Jo-Anns and sat on hold for almost 30 mins trying to find out if my order had been processed. I was informed that their servers were down and that all of the orders placed this morning will not be processed...
That's all the information I could get...

Well, I had tried to post that the site was down...don't know where that went...but now the code won't work. It says the code has "expired". I guess they decided to pull the code.

I guess I should call and see if my order went through this morning like it said it did.

That's what I was thinking. I didn't get an e-mail so mine didn't go through but if you got the e-mail then I'm sure you got yours...

Well, I hate to say this, but I hope everyone has learned a valuable lesson. Codes given to certain people to compensate them for something they deserve (and the rest of us don't) should not be spread around. The "defense" that "they should have known the code would be given out" is no excuse for dishonesty, and that's just what this was. It's like saying "they should have known people would use the code whether they earned it or not, and not tried to do the right thing for their customers." Hogwash. It's not JoAnn's fault so many people did the wrong thing here. They might actually stop that practice for those customers who legitimately deserve them, and that would be a shame, especially since so few companies nowadays actually care about their customers. (Wonder why that is...)

I'm sure that the very public website sfgwife obtained the code from didn't state it was for exclusively compensatory purposes.
Furthermore, no one "defended" themselves anywhere in this thread, and the only person who implied "[JoAnns] should have known the code would be given out" was the only poster here who "deserved" the code.

In my defense, I had no idea what the code was for. It was posted that it had been found on a "coupon site". I've used those before so I had no problems doing it. Most sites that want to make up for a "boo boo" will credit it to their customers account, or give them a one time use code.
Everyone knows that codes get out over the internet. it's not news to me.

**Putting on my Moderator Hat**
To Everyone: Please refrain from making public judgemental statements on fellow members. I myself was going to check the code out, as we often have these posted here from JoAnns, who utilizes them frequently. There was no way for anyone to know that this code should have been restricted to a select group of "deserving" individuals. This was apparently JoAnns' mistake, and they moved to rectify it by taking their servers down. So no judgements should be passed, and definitely NO preaching! No one appreciates that.

Oh, and for those who received their emails, I would wait before preparing to stalk the poor mail carrier. Recall that Donnalynn was told that all orders that were processed this morning would not go through - and I suspect that might include those who got the confirmations too. For your sakes, I hope I'm wrong in that interpretation, but they must have really gotten slammed to have taken such an extreme measure as to take their servers down to stop it!
I suspect that this was a major major OOPS on their part... :blush:lol

Okay...obviously I have made a few people angry here. I didn't mean to. I got this off a public board not from an e-mail that came to me. If it had come to me I would not have shared. I do use JoAnnes to get things from time to time not just because I got 15 off 15. So I am sorry if I offended you by posting this. Nikki

No one thinks of the consequences of his/her (even slightly dishonest) actions. Does anyone have any idea how much this has cost Joann? Can you imagine having to manually go through all the orders placed with this code and make sure that everyone who deserves it gets it, and those who don't, don't? This is a nightmare for Joann and the already stressed customer service employees and processors and IT department. Not to mention having to take down the site...this has been very costly for Joann, and those costs will probably be passed on. They will also have to change how they do things going forward. Anyone who thinks I'm exaggerating here has never worked in that environment. This is the real tragedy in this situation.
Nowhere in this thread (until after my previous post) did it say that this code came from a coupon website. It's too bad that we now expect and accept that people will take advantage of things they don't have any right to enjoy or benefit from. It wasn't "the internet" that spread it, it was people (whoever did it first) who should have known better, or at least respected Joann enough not to pass on something to people who don't deserve it.
I, for one, hope Joann doesn't honor it for those who don't deserve it. Those people only have a little disappointment to get over; Joann has much more damage to recover from.

Excuse me, but if you'll re-read the OP you'll see that the author mentions she "got this from refund makes cents," a savings website.
Your point is a valid one, but I find the delivery self-righteous.

Since the code no longer works and this thread is showing signs of fraying, I'm closing it now.
