Hancock's has a sale in November when all their yarn is 1/2 off. JoAnn's has great online sales on yarn, and even the threads of the ilk of Aunt Lydia's, Royale, etc. BUT,...

Do Opera, Cebelia, Cordonnet, Manuela, Flora, Steinbach Wolle, et al
ever go on sale?

Anybody know?:think

My mom's been running her LYS for 4 years come this May and I've never heard of those brands of thread being put on sale, going on sale, etc. The cheaper brands yes, but not the good ones.

Sales often reflect that the wholesaler/distributor is promoting them in some way. A shopkeeper can really only afford to discount something if they receive it discounted, first.

Also, once upon a time I accompanied her to a LYS owner's buying convention. It was all about yarns, all about knitting. This was also four years ago, but I'm sure things haven't changed that much to include thread crochet.

It's disappointing, I know. But there's just not enough thread crocheters in the eyes of the industry :(.

I can't even find those threads locally & I don't live in a small town either. If you don't mind ordering on-line, Knitting Warehouse has the best prices on Cordonnet, Cebelia, & Opera that I have found.

Lori is right. Unless the distributor is running a special then there probably won't be one. Having worked at Michaels and doing the books at a local Burger King years ago I learned that when say Coca-Cola goes on sale at Wal-Greens, the Coca-Cola company is giving them a special deal for a specific time frame in order for Wal-Greens to pass the savings on to the customer. Very rarely is it the "store" itself who does these things.

Same thing with Michaels. Items go on sale when the company sending them the items have specials themselves...

If you look, some items NEVER go on sale while others go on sale every other week...

If you really love the more expensive threads, I would try to purchase on line... :hook

Thanks for the info, it's what I suspected. And thanks for the Knitting Warehouse tip, hadn't searched their site for thread.

Thanks again for the info. I'm really grateful you all are here on C'ville. I appreciate it!

Joann's did have the Opera thread on sale not to long ago. I scarfed up on some. Wish I had bought more now.

Right now, all Coats and Clark crochet threads are 30% off at Knitting Warehouse.

Thanks! Knitt. Warehouse has the Opera at $2.98 per ball. JoAnn's online is $4.25. There's one! If the better threads go on sale anywhere could we make a list here? I'd love to know.

No, only ugly cheap thread goes on sale. Sorry.:cry

just kidding - I'm watching this site 'cause I'm interested in that too - perhaps in one of the on-line stores?
