I finally finished the Family Circle Easy Crochet hoodie, nicknamed the "weekend wonder." Yeah, right! This was supposed to be finished by Chanukkah for my sister, but things got a little off track :lol

I'm adding in a full view, unzipped detail, and stitch detail:

Pattern: FCEC Fall/Winter 2005, pattern #2
Yarn: Bernat Softee Chunky, 5 balls in cream
Hook: Size J (to achieve a slightly smaller size than suggested)
Finished Size: Roughly a women's x-small/small. The pattern is only written in medium, so I adapted it by going down 1 hook size and working slightly tighter than normal.

They're actually blocking pins :blush But what a great idea! I'm planning to make another in Navy, and may have to work a few beads in :)

I have FCEC at home and couldn't tell what the stitch pattern (or the hoodie) looked like because of the dark green yarn. The stitch is unique and you did a great job. i know your sister will enjoy it. :)

I love that -- I saw the pattern and picture in the magazine, but could not make out what it looked like because the color was so dark. I love the lighter color of yours and now I can see how pretty the stitch pattern really is. I can now plan on making one, since I can see how it is supposed to look. You did a great job. :-)

Thanks so much! I loved the shape of the hoodie when I saw it, but also had trouble making out the exact pattern. This cream one is for my sister, but I'll be making a navy one for myself soon :hook

WOW! THis is the first one I've seen done. I've also been working on this hoodie in a maroon color. Did you have any trouble with the increases on the sleeves? I didn't quite understand how to proceed after there was a full shell on each side.

Celestial Seasonings
April 12th, 2006, 11:13 PM
Yes, I actually stopped there for four months!!! I followed the directions and they didn't quite make sense after the increase, so I fudged it a bit and pretended that it was a FULL shell, but stopped before continuing past the center of the "full shell." Does that make sense? Try it, and PM me if you can't get it! I'll try to work up another sleeve to help you out.:hook

Oh that is so pretty, Celestial Seasonings! I don't think I've ever seen a lace-type top like that before. It's not only unusual, it's quite pretty, and you did a wonderful job. :cheer
P.S. Happy Chanukkah!! :hook
