Finally, I completed my crochet dress! In the 2.5 weeks, there's been a lot of *tango* (crochet forward, rip back) with this project.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/vintagefusion/Z-ExtLinkPhotos/CRO-lace_dress-model_UB_01.jpg

More details can be found on this entry (http://vintagefusionhandcrafts.blogspot.com/2006/04/hot-off-hook.html).

[Btw, I have posted an updated entry (http://vintagefusionhandcrafts.blogspot.com/2006/05/everything-about-crochet-lace-dress.html) that contains details like how long it takes me to crochet, the amount of yarn used, pattern modifications etc. And of course, nicer pictures of the dress too!]

You did a beautiful job on the dress and it fit you so perfect. You are very talented. The dress is just lovely! Is that a Lily Chin creation? Is it this dress? (http://www.interweave.com/knit/interweave_knits/pdf_files/crochet_LaceDress.pdf)

Oh wow! Gorgeous!

Did you use the free Lily Chin Lace Dress (http://www.interweave.com/knit/crochet/crochet_projects.asp)pattern and just make some changes? If that's what you did I like your version much better!:clap I've thought about trying Lily's pattern but don't think I have the skill to change the things I don't like about it.

Thanks everyone! :blush

Yes, that is indeed the pattern I used. I modified the pattern around 2 areas: the yoke & under the bust.

I'm trying to get it into a wash within the next few days to see the after-effects but I am pretty sure I'll like it since I've used this yarn previously for the baby crochet booties posted here (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14145).

I will attempt to consolidate a blog entry regarding my experience on crocheting this dress.

Besides, this project is a great showcase since this is the yarn I carry and a representation of my abilities as a knitting/crochet instructor ;)

I knew it! LOL Your skill is amazing and awe inspiring. The neck line is one of the areas (the main thing) I don't care for on the original pattern. I also like that you eliminated the other area thus making the dress a little shorter AND! it just all seems to blend together so much better. Gosh! I just love your version SO much! Fantastic work.:cheer

I think I am going to make this dress. I don't think I will look as good in it, but it is too gorgeous not to try. When I first saw this on the interweave website, I thought - it would be crazy to make, but it's just so beautiful. Great work!

Thanks...

I would certainly encourage everyone to try it...there are some minor errors in the pattern but it's easily deciphered.

Btw, I have posted an updated entry (http://vintagefusionhandcrafts.blogspot.com/2006/05/everything-about-crochet-lace-dress.html) that contains details like how long it takes me to crochet, the amount of yarn used, pattern modifications etc.
