Hi everyone,

My sister's foreign exchange student is returning to Russia on May 18, and her going away party is May 17. I'd like to make her an afghan to take home with her, but I've procrastinated. I need one that works up fast.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I made a ripple afghan for myself using Lion Brand Woolease Thick and Quick in multiple colors with a P hook. It worked up very fast. It only took me a few weeks--although that was with practically continuous crocheting <g>.

How about these 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 hour afghans:

Most anything open or kind of open should work fast.
A giant granny also works fast.

I dont know if its an actual afghan, but I made one in a few days with 2 strands of WW and a P hook and I chained as wide as I wanted and DC'd the entire thing. :)

I once made one for a friend in about 2 days. I'm not sure where the pattern is, but it's basically a ch 1, 1 sc all the way across. I use that stitch all the time, and it looks great and is extremely fast. You could try out different color combinations.

Thanks all, I'll try out one of those 5 1/2 hour patterns. I'll time it and let you know!

I've made the one 5 1/2 hour one, it does go fast. I even have the orginal print of it from a magazine.
You'll like that pattern. I can't wait to see yours when it's finished.

Well, I ended up working the 4 1/2 hour Lion Brand pattern. Either I'm super-slow or they underestimated the time. But I finished it today and she is leaving tomorrow, so all is good. I posted a pic in Show and Tell.

try my pattern....forgot to add chain two at the ends of the rows...double crochet all the way...use variegated yarn because thats what makes the pattern. I can make this afghan in three nights after work.
