I have just crocheted hats and afghans and bags and baby vests till now!!:think I really want to make something for my hubby... Can anybody help me with some patterns?? I am a bit embarassed to say so, but I'm afraid right now I can only go for free patterns..:( Please..........help me....

www.crochetme.com has a really nice men's cabled vest. It's titled the Adventuring Sage Cabled Vest. Very pretty pattern

I wonder why there are so few patterns for men!!!
I've emailed every possible online source for patterns (Bernat, Lionbrand, CrochetMe, Patons, etc) to complain about the lack of patterns for men. There's plenty of knitting patterns out there for men's sweaters, but not much in crochet.

:cheer I came across a page out of an old magazine, with a mans V neck jumper crocheted in a Basket Weave stitch if it is of any use to you.
The first one to send me a PM with their Snail Mail address can have it.
It may be an English pattern but if it is, I will put in a note with the alternative stitches.
I also have a couple of books with family patterns so I could look out a couple of those too.
Have fun.

I suspect the reason that there are far more knitting patterns than crochet patterns for sweaters for men and women, is because knitting has a lot more "give" to it. There's less need to create shaping for different body types.
For things where "give" seems to be a non-issue, crochet seems to have more options for the choice for patterns over knitting.

Actually, you could take a women's sweater pattern that is classic and not lacy and use the measurements that would fit Hubbers. There are many patterns now that include 40-48 chest sizes. Just be sure to measure the sleeve length. I'd also make the armholes just a little bigger.

Hmm, well, that may be the reason! :)
