I'm teaching a lady at my stitching group how to crochet. She is wanting to make something now. We decided that she would start a baby afghan. Does anyone know of a real simple pattern for a beginner?

This (http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=1389&PHPSESSID=201af7bdbe2083237d2905e78d2b9cdb) is the first one that I made. It's very simple - just alternating sc and chain, but because there is a row pattern it doesn't get too boring.
The crazy stitch (http://crochet.about.com/library/blcrazyst.htm) looks really fancy but is suprisingly easy! If she can do DC and chains she can do it - its a nice pattern - doesn't get boring - works up SOOOO pretty and she'll be thrilled that she made it herself.
Here is a photo of the crazy stitch baby blanket that I made.

Thank you so much. I just made that pattern for a baby shower 2 months ago. I didn't even think about that one. She knows sc, dc and chain, I think you are right that this would be a good one and a pretty one for that matter. Thanks!

I'm especially partial to shell patterns. I usually use the 2 dc, chain 2, 1 sc all in the same chain 2 space from the row below.
