I just finished crocheting my first scarf - I made it plain to practice - all dc ( english - sc yankie) and show off the lucious wool - but I was thinking of adding maybe 3 rows of ruffles or something on the bottom - I was thinking maybe picot? but was wondering if any one else had a suggestion of something better to use. its made of chunky wool - I used a 9mm to make it
pleae if this is in the wrong spot let me know.

If its a regular chunky winter scarf, I'm a big fan of fringe/tassles. And they do show off the yarn, because you see it plain (outside of stitching).

I have seen where someone makes chains at the bottom of a scarf resembling fringe.
Pattern would be:
sc in first stitch, 20 chains, sc in next stitch, 20 chains, etc.
I have tried it and it looks very nice. The chains actually can be any length you want, I just used 20 as a example.
Good luck.

I kinda like just using the stitch you're using and doing 2 or 3 or 4 of them in the each stitch all across the row. Do maybe 3 rows of those and you'd get a nice little ruffle. Nothing too fancy or hard, and it ripples nicely. See how many your scarf can handle (the 2 or 3 or 4) with the size of the yarn. Since it's chunky maybe 2 in each stitch for the first row, then 2 in each stitch for the next row, and ditto for the third. That would give you double the stitches in the second row, Quadruple the stitches in the second, and so forth. Clear??

This one has been on my to-do list, although I probably won't get to it more towards fall now. I just love the edging on this one though.
