I received and email last night from a good friend that another friend of hers has a 2 year old daughter born w/ prune belly syndrome and preparing (once the get the funds together) to undergo a kidney transplant. I'm going to send a few $$ but also wanted to make a blanket. I tend to find one pattern and use it over and over. IE: Right now I'm on an entrelac crochet kick! LOL So I have trouble trying fresh things. What are your favorites for this type of project?

The blanket in lionbrand baby set (http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/cja-babySet.html) is my favourite. It works up quick, is very pretty, soft and doesn't have a border.
You could also try their lacy baby blanket (http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/20117.html). I've never made it, but it looks very pretty.

I just made one of those Teddyghans and it is the sweetest thing! I'm going to make some more.
They are on the small size but could easily be made larger by adding more squares. The smaller size is perfect for a cover-up like in the car seat, and also for toting since children can become attached to their blankie--not too big for dragging along! :)
Don't know if I can post the link here, but just do a google search for Teddyghan.

Giant grannys are sweet when done in two colors, baby colors especially.
Or a shell.

Here's a baby ghan that looks like a quick work up, yet very pretty.

You can also check out the lion brand web site below, they have several baby/tots ghans.

Empress~Love the bear ghan, such a cute pattern. I will have to make one of those myself.

My favorite pattern is the round ripple. One of mine is posted here, with the pattern and changes listed on page three of the thread.

I have made several, in many different pattern variations. I have also used worsted weight and sport weight. I just follow the pattern with the right size hook for the weight of yarn.

I've made this blanket multiple times. It is quite pretty and works up pretty quickly too.

Thanks for the recs all. I am up to my eyeballs in round ripple right now so I think I'll pass on it! LOL I just finished one for my secret pal's baby to be, and have 2 more in progress for friends' sons. UGH! I need to finish up a few projects before starting another I think! :)
