I'm so excited with how this bodice came out that I just really needed to show someone! I just finished it today and wove in my last yarn end. The link above will take you directly to the page it is on in my blog.
Its mostly done in chain lace, very fitted, and then laces up the front like a corset. Since I live in Florida, this is perfect summer attire for me over tank tops (which make me feel a little too bare).

It's wonderful! I had heard about this Euroflax and was wondering how it would work up. Was it hard on your hands as you were working with it, you know, like really stiff? Anyway, it looks beautiful.

Wow! You :hook guys are an awesomely friendly group! I appreciate all the encouragement. I used to crochet when I was younger - then I encountered suddenly: the knit snobs, so I learned to knit. Recently, I took up crochet again, and this is my second top designed. Vickie Howell is publishing the first.
I've found that even though I meticulously write out my directions as I'm doing them, that I speak a different language from anyone else as far as crochet vernacular. It is so hard to transfer my gibberings into actual pattern. I've got gibberings for this one - and I'm trying to write it out, but its not fun.
Nikki asked about the euroflax linen - I had read all the same things about how hard it is on the hands. It was not near as hard as what was said. It crocheted easily - I used a steel hook (profi, size c) and it slipped through beautifully. I don't know if a wooden hook would have worked so well (that was not meant to be a tongue twister). As testiment to how much I enjoyed the linen - I went out and bought more. Its not cashmere - but its not so hard on your hands that its excruciating by any means. I noticed only that my hands felt dry after longer crochet sessions.
What will I wear with this someone asked? A tank top and jeans!

wow, I really like that! I'm working with some lanna grossa linen/cotton blend right now and so far really not enjoying the feel of it in my hands or working with it, but if I get anywhere near as cool as a look as you got out of your linen, maybe it'll be worth it in the end...

I am so glad there are people like you that can produce designs. I have no such luck. I have to have explicit instructions for everything. Your work is beautiful and I hope you continue doing new designs.

I noticed your husband had a detached retina following cataract surgery. My surgeon told me there was a 40% chance following cataract surgery of having a detached retina. He also told me to get to the nearest emergency room asap because it could result in blindness.
I had 2 cataract surgeries -- 1990 and 1992. In 1995 I got a secondary cataract on one of the implant lens. They burned it off with a laser in about 2 minutes. My eye was reddish but it healed in a couple days. I was told this was very common as well.

Thank you everyone! I have really loved wearing this little top. It goes with everything - dressed up or dressed down. I'm working (slowly) on getting my notes written out for a pattern, its close to done.
Countingsts: YES! YOU COULD DO THIS! Its much easier than you think - you just have to be patient with yourself as you do it.
Dogymom: You guessed it right! In my real life, I'm a professional artist (who happens to love to knit and crochet and design her own clothes).http://members.cox.net/sherritzej/index.html(art website). Quinacridone magenta happens to be my favorite color to work with - quinacridone scarlett is my second....then there's quinacridone violet...
I love that I found this place and am meeting other crocheters!

I want the pattern! Please, please, please! I've never seen something so marvelous before! And I'm not just saying that to get the pattern! And I do mean I'd pay for the pattern, too! :)
Please let us know if/when the pattern will be available!

Good news everyone.....I just got an email from a MAJOR book publisher and this pattern is being picked up. It will come out next year in an awesome awesome crochet book. I don't know if I'm allowed to say any details from this point on (contracts....some of them say no disclosure), but I'll give you a hint.....the book author has a knitting/craft show on the DIY network.

Don't mean to sound awful, but the member that originally posted this item has not been online at the forum since July 2006. There has been alot of very old threads posted on lately and people are not aware that they are old.
It is great to bring a thread "alive" again but it definately pays to check how old the thread is to begin with
