Hi all, I'm a new member and I love the site :)

I have a question and was hoping someone could help me out. My mother loaned me a doily that her grandmother had made many years ago (no one is sure how old it actually is, at minimum 30 years). I'm creating a replica of it and a pattern. I'd like to be able to share it when I finish but I wasn't sure if it would be a problem since I don't know if it's my great grandmother's original pattern or if it was in a crafting book at some point. Any tips, advice would be much appreciated :)

Pixie, this is a really hard question to answer, since I'm not an intellectual property lawyer. If you had a better handle on when it was likely published, it would be somewhat easier. Check this site (http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/training/Hirtle_Public_Domain.htm) for duration of copyright and public domain info; it may be helpful.

Thanks Donna...since I don't have many details I guess I'll hold off and not post anything on here.

You're welcome, Pixie! Sorry I could not give you a better answer. :( We would love to see a photo of your doily when it's done, though! :))
