NEW RELEASE!
Any true fashion hound would trade a favorite bone for one of these swanky crocheted sweaters. From a laid-back camouflage sweater to a distinctive poncho with matching blanket, there’s a cover-up in this tail-wagging collection that’s “paws-itively” perfect for your best little buddy. The sizes range from small to extra-large, fitting chest sizes 12” to 24". The designs use medium, bulky, or super bulky weight yarns.
The 7 projects are Pedigreed Poncho, Canine Comfort 15” square blanket, Glamour Gal coat, Santa’s Best Helper coat, Best Little Hunting Buddy sweater, Patriotic Pup coat, and the granny square Rainbow Jacket.
Did anyone notice anything? They mis-spelled my first name. They e-mailed me & apologized & said it would be corrected in the next printing. Heck, it's no biggie to me - I'm just thrilled they published my designs!! They can call me Johnjacobjinglehymersmith if they want!! :lol

Wow! Cute cover...I bet your inside patterns are just as delightful.
I'll be watching for it, but hope you'll consider writing "Caps for Cats" or "Fake Furs for Your Feline" or "Koats for Kitties" as your next book. Then I'll buy a book for Buddy.
By the way, it sounds like the publisher has made you a promise to have a second printing! Yahoo!

Oh Shelle, that's GREAT! I can't tell you how long it took me to track down a copy of Doggie Duds. All the other leaflets included knitted sweaters and I don't want to pay for patterns I can't use. I'm so happy to see that you've put out a book on crocheted doggie apparel. Count me in as one who will buy that booklet! Congratulations:cheer !

CONGRATS! That is so cute too. My friend is going to have a fit when I show this to her. She's always looking for avant garde items for her "Sweetie" lol! My intention is to make her a box full of garments for Sweetie to wear this winter.....key word "intention" LOL
Shelleden
July 25th, 2006, 10:53 AM
Thanks, everybody! sugasoul, you can make good on your intentions, cause these are so quick to make. I want pics, too! And sparkles, I made my fat-black-lab a sweater (that one didn't get published - I guess they just wanted patterns for small dogs) and she, too, looks very dashing! Her name is Valentine. The sweater is made with RH ww trimmed with LB Suede. The button is a dog's head - found a bunch of cute buttons at Hobby Lobby and now Wal-mart is carrying neat novelty buttons, too.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/Shelleden/DogSweaterLg.jpg
Valentine's all black except for those two white toes. I call her "Twowhitetoes". She's a sweet dog, but way too "fluffy" - needs to cut back on those dog treats! :lol

Shelle, we also have a black lab, Cody. His white spot is on his chest. I'd love to make him a sweater BUT he has an overwhelming desire to shred things like that. Loves to bite holes in our feather pillows, anihilates socks & undies and other odd pieces of clothing. Shoes are a hit too. The cord for the sleep number bed control was quite tasty, as was the power cord for the laptop last weekend.:angry The best item was his harness, that he chewed through while WEARING it, because my DH was taking too long to get his leash. A sweater I'm afraid would face a painful death.:( Unless I crochet it with ***** yarn? What do you think?
Shelleden
July 26th, 2006, 10:17 PM
:lol Sounds like Cody has a healthy '***' appetite! It's funny, but Valentine will chew everybody else's clothes but her own. She especially loves tags. Or hates them, depending on how you look at it. The tags are the first to go! My JRT, Millie is fond of shoestrings. Arghhhh!! I wish just once I could actually tie my shoes without having to re-thread them (leaving off a couple of eyelets in order to be able to tie them!). Ah, but I love my fur-babies anyway. :blush

Sure! I still haven't found any of my books in stores yet, but I've seen them on several online stores, so I'm sure if you did a search, you'd find them. There are 7 designs in "Dashing Doggie Duds". 5 sweaters, 1 poncho, and 1 blanket. Here they are on my dogs Millie & Maggie. The little Chihuahua is not mine, but I wish she was! She's the sweetest, loving-est little dog you ever saw! Of course Leisure Arts photographed the sweaters professionally (with professional dog models :lol ), so they look much better, but this will give you an idea of what's in the book. My dogs love wearing them and they're very easy to put on. It seems like little dogs are always cold! Maggie can walk just fine in her poncho and not trip on it. They both have Santa sweaters, and when I take them in the car, the bank tellers and everybody get such a kick out of them! They're pretty cute. Of course the bank tellers have them spoiled cause they give them treats.

Thanks for the pics, those are so cute! CONGRATS on getting the book published! That is GREAT.
Too bad they weren't for bigger dogs, our female is named Liberty and a red, white and blue one would be so cute for her. She's only 90lbs and our male, Dallas, is only 120 lbs.

I posted the pattern for Valentine's sweater (see post #44) on my site. It's on the FREE PATTERNS page. If you need it to be even larger, try a larger hook and maybe add a few stitches and a few extra rows.

Those are soooo cute! I wish I could make one for my Lilly (but she's a cat). She gets very cold in the winter when we take her out on her leash. She loves the outdoors but being a short-haired tabby it can get to the point of shivers. Do you think any small dog coat could be adapated for a grown kitty?
Thanks!
Now the problem would be not to get scratched when I put it on. . .:think

July 31st, 2006, 05:56 PM
Of course! Any of these designs would work for a cat! I don't see why not. If she's the size of a Chiuahua, or a Jack Russell, or whatever, just make it in that size. And they're very easy to put on. You just slip it over their head, and button the tummy strap. No leg holes! My dogs love to wear them. I'll try one on my cat Daisy, and post a pic later. This ought to be cute! I never thought of cats wearing them, cause Daisy has long hair, but I bet a short-haired cat would get cold - just like a dog! Thanks for the suggestion. I might design some prissy kitty koats! Sounds fun!!
