Here is the scarf!!! Finally the pattern is complete. :bow
After thinking about it, I would rate this pattern as a intermediate level pattern. The actual stitches themselves are not hard. The counting though is a little more challenging to a beginner. I'm not saying you can't make it and it turn out beautiful, just that you will need to focus and concentrate on what you are doing more so than on a simple dc scarf. But the result is well worth it.

For some reason photobucket is not letting me rotate the pic so sorry it's upside down!
And here (http://a1008.g.akamai.net/7/1008/521/1113/www.abercrombiekids.com/kids/onlinestore/collection/5699_01_b.jpg) is the link to the one that "inspired" it.
So without further ado, An Inspired Lace Scarf!!!! (http://www.geocities.com/chigaboom1976/An_Inspired_Lace_Scarf.html?1100979540660):hsanta Now go get busy hookin' yours!!!

p.s. if you find any glitches in the pattern or have a problem, don't hesitate to post it here or email me. I'll be glad to help.

It is beautiful!!! I am on the edging part of mine; I didn't realize it was a pineapple design until I saw your picture. (I did do it right; it didn't "look" like anything until it is sewn together...)

I had a hard time on the edging (1st row, sc part, getting exactly 510 sc.) I finally did the math, and figured out that you need 23 sc on the edge of each motif. With the 2sc on the corners, this will equal 510. When you do the sides with the corners, you will end up with the 23rd sc in the corner space, then you sc again in same space, then start over counting 23 for next side.... Hope this might help anyone else having same problem. I had to crochet the edging three times before I did the math. :bang Should have done that first...:rolleyes

Your scarf is gorgeous, Chelle. You do beautiful work. Thank you for the beautiful pattern, Rebecca!

Oh, woops! Edited cuz I thought lv2crochet and luv2crochet were the same; that's why I called you Chelle, Alisha- sorry! Got you two confused.

Stunning! :)h

:yay It uses Cotton Twist! LOL I have nine balls of it that I bought for another project and never made.

woolandflax
January 27th, 2005, 09:39 PM
Thanks guys!! I'm so glad you all like it. Tiff, it actually only takes about 2 1/2 balls of the cotton twist. So you'd have enough to make 3!! It is really drapey and soft. In this cotton though, it does need to be blocked. I didn't have time before I took the pic and had a hard time getting the fans in the border to lay down.

I saw this wonderful bag created from a Japanese scarf pattern at craftser.org. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=39389.0

I immediately thought of this great scarf pattern and the ginko scarf http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7724 (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7724)

I don't need any more scarves at the moment but now I have a use for these patterns.

Thanks.

Saw this and just couldn't resist trying it, especially since someone said they made it in Simply Soft and it turned out nicely ... and I had one lonely leftover SS skein just begging for a project ... so for the next week or so this is my when-I'm-sick-of-working-on-my-daughter's-afghan project (she begged for an afghan, BEGGED, but not granny squares, mom, ick! No, ripple is too old-fashioned. Ewww, not strips, that looks dumb. Finally I quit asking for approval and just started crocheting using a tried-and-true pattern I've used for baby afghans in the past. Very pretty, but I've done it so many times it's b-o-r-i-n-g). Anyway -- I have to say that when I finished the first motif for the scarf I looked at it, and turned it and looked at it again, and scratched my head and wondered what I'd done wrong; I just couldn't picture it. 3 motifs later I laid them all out on the sofa and wow, suddenly I can see it! Can't wait til this is done; if it turns out half as beautifully as the ones in this thread I'll be making several for Christmas presents. I'm in awe of anyone who can create a pattern for something this lovely.

Lani - I laughed when I read your post. When I made mine I thought exactly the same thing. I almost frogged the first square because "that couldn't be right?" I, too was pleased to discover that it was really going to work out!

Good luck and don't forget to post a pic!
