I have a silly question...

It says not to join rows 1-17...how do I work it then? Do I work in rounds, or do I turn at the end and go back the other way?

THanks everyone. Sorry about the spinning siggy LOL! I'll find an immobile one :)

I'll consider the calendar, it sounds like fun.

I have a new resolution. I plan to start writing down my creations --I create all the time but never write anything down. Now, hopefully, I'll have lots of patterns to share with everyone.

I love these so much and really want to make some but I can't figure out what yarn would be suitable. I'm in the UK and I'm a bit sketchy on non-UK yarn weights. Can anyone advise me please? I have tried to look it up can't find a conversion anywhere.

These slippers are made from a chenille yarn I bought at a thrift store. Its 3 ply, but very thin. I think if you use any kind of yarn it would work. I have made these slippers with everything from a thin wool to a chunky and they all trun out great! Good luck.

So just wing it then? That's brilliant, thanks I'll give it a go. I LOVE mary janes!

Oh butterfly you know there is a difference between UK stitch names and US ones right? It took me a little while to figure them all out.

Thanks Rachel:star I'm actually fine with the stitches, I seem to slip from UK to US with no trouble at all it's just the yarn. Worsted is approx aran though, right? One day I will order a ton of stuff from the US so I can actually use the correct stuff!

I find the aran weight in the Uk to approximately the same as worsted in Canada. I live in Germany which adds more to this whole yarn thing (my husband is british). Butterfly I find Texere Yarns really good for giving weights in their online catalog. I sort have it all figured out but the differences in hook sizes just complicates things further so I just end up winging it anyways.

Hope that sort of helps.

What shoe size is the pattern written for? Will it matter between a size 7 or a 9 or is it just stretchy enough that it'll fit both? Thanks!!

Kathleen
January 23, 2005, 04:43 AM
Its a size 7 - 8. Those are my feet and I wear a 7. They stretch quite a bit, but if you need them to be longer, you can increase the rows. (see the bottom of the pattern on tips) Thanks everyone.

I could seriously pee myself, I'm so excited by those!! Last year I wanted to make a pair soooo badly but couldn't find any. Then my bf's mother gave me a pair for Christmas! I love them but they weren't terribly durable, so I'm excited to try my hand at your pattern with some better yarn. :clap

I found your pattern off of your blog, but I have a question as to how the pattern works:

When I'm doing rows 4-17 and working in rounds, it seems as if I'm just getting this narrow, almost tube like, form. Part of me doesn't think that's right, and so I'm doing something wrong. Am I just mis-reading it?

Otherwise, I really like the way the slippers work, and I can't wait to make them! Your help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I would like to thank you for your pattern .This was the firdt pattern that I have ever done and I adjusted the pattern to fit me because I am a size 9 I di not realize until todaythat all I had to do was increase rows in certain areas, but I was able to pull it off cause I used a smaller hook and eyeballed and frogged my way through. But today I come and see that all I had to do was add more rows in certain area. But they are almost done I just need to add the straps and hopefullly will post pic soon.

Here is a link to baby Maryjanes I have made lots of these before and the pattern is a good one for your daughter just adjust the hook size smaller and you will see in row of soles measure to your daughter feet you'll get the idea.

A friend of mine ask me to make her a pair of mary janes. I was going to use this pattern, but have a question. What size do these run? I need a size 9, and she is across the country. It would be a little hard to see if they fit.

These are adorable!!!! Having several pairs of Mary Jane's(my fav shoe style) these will fit in just perfect!!! I've always seen patterns for children's crocheted Mary Janes by not for an adult.

Thank you for creating and posting this pattern. And may I use the pattern to make a pair for myself?

HUGS!!!
