I lost my mother to breast cancer 7 years ago :cry, and I had a really pretty pink ribbon pin, but the darn thing got lost the pin back kept coming undone. So I made a really really easy pin just now. Maybe you've allready thought of this. :wink
Breast Cancer Ribbon Pin
With a pink yarn I used shiny baby yarn
chain 21 skip 1 ch and sc in next 20 fasten off leaving a tail lon enought to weave through back fold over and stitch together and add a safety pin or glue on a pin back. Make 1 for everyone you know:knit . Make as big as you like just adding more chains.

I thought it was too simple to even share, but some of us don't have pink ribbons laying around but we certainly have pink yarn.

Rebecca-Can't wait to see a pic in eyelash yarn, I bet it'll be wonderful!
Luv2-It seems every day we all are told of another woman who has been diagnosed with this disease (Mrs. Edwards, almost first vice-wife), and your pin not only is a great idea, but a wonderful contribution that the crochet community on the whole can help with. :pink For several years now, at work we have participated in "Jean Day" for the Susan B. Komen (I never spell that right-sorry) foundation where all the employees who wear jeans that day donate at least $5 for the privilage of helping breast cancer research. I think next time around I'll crochet up a bunch of pins and add that to the donation options.
Have you thought of making up many and selling them to donate the profits to an organization that means a lot to you or that had a special place in your mother's heart? :pink

Not having a mom at any age is hard. Im sorry for your lose.
Think Ill make a few of these but in green if that is ok? Green is for organ donar awareness.
And maybe some cancer ones or do they have one for leukemia(sp) Ill have to look that up. My mother also passed away from cancer 4 years ago.
I cant find the spell checker and my spelling is bad.

I am so sorry for anyone that has lost someone to breast cancer.. We've been very lucky in our family but it's definitely something that needs to have awareness brought to it.
When is Breast Cancer Awareness Month does anyone know? This would be great for co-workers and family across the pond :)

Me too. My Mom's had a kidney transplant in 1998 and needs another one. Several girls in my office crochet at least a little though so maybe I'll buy some pink AND some green yarn and put the pattern on the bulletin board and everyone can do some when the phones are slow!

I'm so glad that I saw this post! I've been looking for brain tumor/ pituitary tumor related pins or bracelets for my coworkers, and the only ones I've managed to find are 5 bucks each. Needless to say, with medical bills that's a little out of the question! Thank you so much for putting this pattern up :hug

What a wonderful idea. My mother is going through the last of her radiation treatments right now for her breast cancer. We are praying they got it all. I lost my grandmother 15 years ago from a prolonged battle w/ breast cancer. My aunt had a double mascetomy 10 years ago and hasn't had any reoccurances . I just recently lost my pin and was thinking of what to do to replace it. Thank You.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm currently working on an Awareness Ribbon doily (original pattern). My Mom has had Breast cancer twice, and we just lost a cousin to uterin cancer. The great thing about the pattern I'm working on is that the only limit to what you want to support is can you find the right color thread?
I hope to have it done so it can be posted before October for Breast cancer Awareness month.
BTY, the pin is a really awesome idea!:pink

Hi there ladies:
First of all I'm so sorry about your loss of your moms I have lost my mom to and i know the void..
I've been crocheting some of these pink ribbon pins but i found the pattern in a crochet calendar that was given to me for x-mas and well I love the simplicity to crochet it.. I'm making a batch for me to donate them to the clinic where i get my mammogram.
I also am part of soldier Angels so i plan to use the same pattern to make some yellow ribbons for support and to the soldiers i send them some made of red/white/blue patriotic yarn..
So thanks for the idea and I will see if i can post a photo here soon.

I'm so sorry about your mom, Alisha. :hug I have been making cancer awareness ribbon pins lately, and found a link to all the different colors for different types of cancer. Cancer awareness pins (http://www.thankscompany.com/pages-volunteer/pins-awareness.html). (I just love the internet.) :) I am making one to put in with a comfortghan square for someone who has cancer. I thought it would be a nice little extra to show people who are complete strangers do care. :manyheart
Yarnbox- it says lung disease is white. (You could look at the link, too, though...)

Thank you so much for the pattern, Alisha. I didn't lose a family member to Breast Cancer, but when I was in high school we lost our Youth Choir director to the disease. She was an honorary aunt for so many of us, and the loss was devastating.
My hearts go out to all you who have lost a family member or a friend. :hug I think I'm going to crochet a few of these; there's a small group that I walk with for the Breast Cancer Awarness Walk in NY next month. Thanks again, Alisha. :)
