This is "Laura" in Melissa Leapman's "Cool Crochet" book. I love this book! I also love working with the Luster Sheen. Sorry I can't model it for you, too big a size difference between me and the daughter I sent it to!!:yes I'm not very good with side seams yet. I'll have to keep working on that!

If I may ask how many skeins did the top take?

To make a size small, it took 2 1/2 skeins of Luster Sheen 4 oz skeins. I was amazed at how little it took considering how dense the fabric is.

I don't think that there's been a Melissa Leapman design that I haven't liked. Her patterns are always so classy looking. The top came out beautifully and I didn't notice any problems with the side seams!:)

Gorgeous! It's inspiring me to actually make something out of the book instead of just looking at it longingly.
One dumb question for you or others: since I am too old to wear crop tops anymore, is there any reason on earth why I shouldn't just crochet a whole bunch of extra rows on the front and back pieces to make it a tank top instead of a crop?
Thanks! It's really beautiful; she must love it.

It came out beautiful! I have been eyeing that for a while now but haven't gotten around to it.
Did you have any problem with the gauge?

Thanks everybody for your kind words. I'm still learning with the digital camera and my pics are always blurry!
Elissa, there would be no reason why you couldn't add length to the top. The front and back are both worked "in pattern" until you reach a certain length. So it would be very easy to add to that length without having to adjust anything.
Denise, I had no problem with the gauge at all. Sometimes I'm WAY off, but this was right on!

It's perfect! I love that book as well. So far I have only made a stole from it, but I have so many ideas I would like to try from it. Great job!!:cheer :clap
One question...where did you get the tags made? I have been thinking of getting some for myself.
