It's summer! And I want to show you my new crochet (I don't know how to call it - top?). It's made from cotton thread, but it is not very thin. It's a nice thing for hot summer - a lot of holes!

This is my pineapple top:

And here you can see it on me:

Thank you for so quick reaction. :) I like that you like it.
Here is a link for the pattern:
(removing link for copyrighted pattern)
It's from German magazine, so it is in German. But there is a chema, and if you can read shemas that will be enough. For example, I don't know German, but I was able to understand what to do. :think
I should say that it isn't an easy work. You have another yarn. I had to change something in the pattern (I made shorter chains) to make it suitable for me. And I restarted again and again. :worried
But at last - I did it!

Wow~ what a beautiful sweater, Helen! (I would wear something under it, too. Like a tank top or something.) But, it's beautiful. You did a really good job in translating it. I don't think I have the patience to even try.

And I just love patterns with 'chemas' so much easier for me.
Hmmm, my brother lived in Germany for two years, I'll see if he will convert that to english for us :)

See now, you've got me inspired to put aside my WIP and look through my patterns for somthing similar for the summer that I know I have stashed away in one of many boxes :think I really need to break down and get a filing cabinet for this collection of 40 years.:hook Let me know if you are ever looking for similar patterns like the one you just made but in American terms and maybe we can do some trading. Wow - copyright issues anyone?? I know the patterns German, but they have copyright too......

I've asked an admin to address this, no word back yet.

I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade, Helen made a lovely top. And it's a lovely pattern - I even own it. But this board professes to care about copyright and I just don't see how sharing this pattern and allowing this to happen is in line with that philosophy.

Hellen,

I don't know when, hopefully before this summer is over. I want to make soo many tops, but I think I should finish this one before I make another one like Sugirox's top. :P

And I better finish it before I gain anymore weight and not be able to fit in it! :lol

I believe Hellen posted the pattern link without malice. She just wanted to share her work and where it came from. Unfortunately she did not read the stickies concerning copyright issues and this matter would have been dealt with more gently had you PM'd her and an admin and not post it publicly.

Thanks Goldi for removing the link. Sometimes things like this just slip by as we all can't be on 24 hour monitor.

Go 'ville!

Ah, ok. Great!

It's a real shame that we can't get patterns like that (European and South American) over here.

It is only when I diligently search eBay that I stumble on the occassional issue from overseas. And when I do it's :yay .

BTW, I found an eBay store that sells Russian crochet/knitting patterns in a magazine format.

Look for Taiga Yarns or taigayarns. Their prices are BIN with free shipping and are very reasonable.

So if anyone else who lives in the US (or abroad) wants to get a hold of these awesome patterns, you may also click here. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7027334328&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

You can also look at their eBay store. Lots of goodies!

Hellen,

3 or 4 more inches to go and after I weave in the ends, I will take pictures of it alone and yours truly modeling it (like you).

If anything, watching the NBA Finals gave me the push I needed to finish this lacy summer sweater.

I am now seriously researching the next project. I was able to buy Little Diana Magazine in Russian on eBay. I have 5 of this year's issues so far and I am dying to make a top and a skirt of Issue No. 4.

Oh boy I can't wait to finish this one so I can make more!!

Hellen

There are different names of size of crochet hook in America and Europe. I used size 3 (it means 3 mm). I don't know what is it in America.

According to this chart (http://www.turn-of-the-century.com/knitsize.htm), there appears to be no exact US equivalent for a 3 mm size hook. it seems to fall between a C and D. A gauge swatch would almost be mandatory in this situation, in order determine which size hook would be needed.

I used a 4 mm hook. Well, I am a size L so I figured it warranted a larger hook and some adjustments to get it to my size. :LOL

I'm soo close to finishing it isn't funny. Today is the day so I can wear it to church tomorrow!
