This is the first thing I made from the Cool Crochet book. I bought it online last month.

I didn't use the suggested colours, and as I was crocheting, I realized I liked the backside as much as the right side...I had to try something. So here is the "right" side as per the pattern:

And after weaving in a million ends as invisibly as possibly and crocheting chains stitches over the seams, here is the "wrong side":

I fixed the problem with the overlapping flap of the collar by sewing a button on each side, so it can be switched depending on which side I'm wearing out. Here's how that looks:

It all took less than two weeks, but a lot more yarn than I planned. It is easily the most expensive sweater I own, now. And it's funny, right now I like the "wrong" side better than the right one. :lol

Great job - sweater looks very cozy. I like your solution of giving the seams a "serged" look to allow it to be worn on either side.

The sweater turned out beautifully, I have the cool crochet book in front of me as I'm writing this....I love the way yours turned out and that you can wear it two ways is even better!!! :hook

Thank you. :hug

The yarn is superwash wool, I used two kinds, one called Karisma from Drops, and another one called Vital.

That is so cool. I still dont know which is the right side and the wrong side, as my work comes out looking the same on both sides...lol well to me it does.

Anyway, I love the color and the design of it, and it looks great on you. Good job.:cheer :cheer

Hi there,

Great job on the sweater. I just wished I could make warm cuddly stuff like that, but it gets too hot in Florida to make those type of things. I also have that book, but haven't done anything from it yet. As a true crocheter, you know we all have those future projects we haven't started yet. But I love the colors you used.

Have a great one.

Thank you all for the nice comments. :hug

Hi there,

Great job on the sweater. I just wished I could make warm cuddly stuff like that, but it gets too hot in Florida to make those type of things.

You know, it's also quite hot here at the moment, I was overheating like an oven when I was crocheting with all that wool in my lap. Afterwards I could only keep it on for as long as it took to take the pictures, I don't think it'll come back on before September. :lol

I love it! I love it! I love it! Big collars are absolutely my favorite and I've been eyeing up this pattern for a while. You are so smart to make it reversible by crocheting over the seams and adding the buttons to the collar. Really nice work.:cheer

How cool is that?! Well, actually, it's probably quite warm! :lol I crack myself up!

What a great idea, and I agree, I like the "wrong" side look even better! I will have to remember that...

Thank you all, it's so nice to show and tell here. :hug

i'm really impressed that it only took two weeks.

Actually, I think I bought the yarn on the 9th of June, and it finished on the 17th. Sometimes I just crochet like a maniac. :lol

For a really good warm sweater I really like that. You did an awesome job on the stitching and even made it better by having it able to be worn both ways.
Great job!

Cuddlefish, your sweater looks much better than the one in Cool Crochet. The colors are great and I really like the contrasting seams. Excellent job!
