I normally wrap it up in tissue or a bag if it's a big afghan and then box it up.

After I attach my tag, I usually fold the item (usually a shawl, poncho or scarf) and tie with hemp. I then wrap it in tissue paper and put one of my custom labels on the tissue to hold it closed. I then place this in a clear plastic bag and insert my thank you card.

Same thing, attach my tag usually with a tiny ribbon, fold it nicely so that the label shows on top, wrap it up in tissue with a ribbon tie and a thankyou card under the bow. Very simple yet is very elegant.

Purses also are shipped with tissue inside to hold the shape :)

When I had my website, I did things kinda weird. I guess I was pretty fanatical about everything. I handmade the box that the item went into. I used poster board for the box. I would take crinkled up crepe paper that is a bright color, brush elmer's glue on the posterboard, and slap the paper on it making it all wrinked. Once that was dry, I would take watered down glue and brush it over the top of the paper. That helps to seal it. The box would look artsy, and gives an extra nice touch. I crocheted bathing suits, so I would make sure that the item was folded just so. I mean, I couldn't even have a strap twist. LOL. A "Thank you for your order" card would go on top. I'd put that in the box with some white tissue paper. I would only use white, because when colored tissue paper gets wet the color bleads. I would then put that in a shipping box. It was a lot of work, but it was lots of fun.

Uhh...I put it in a big brown envelope and seal it with packing tape. Folding depends on how many items I am stuffing in the envelope. I used to use tissue paper, but I don't even bother anymore. I have never received a bad comment about items I have shipped out, so I don't think they honestly care what it's packed in. Also, being in Canada, we have a ridiculous mail system, and the more bulk, the more I pay. If they can pass the envelope through a 2 cm slot, I can ship it for half the price. Tissue paper in that case would just get torn and look bad, anyway.

I pack/ship everything from the truck using an online postage system.I don't ship anything that won't fit into a Tyvec envelope.Anything bigger get sold at a show.
1 hat fits in half an envelope, which is then closed up with clear packing tape.I attach a tag and insert a business card, which I also make in the truck.I can mail up to 5 hats in a full envelope.Only 1 complaint about packing in 1 1/2 years!
Smaller items(hair scrunchies, button necklaces)get put into a ziploc baggie and mailed in a small brown envelope with a metal clasp.

I just wanted to say to Kristina--Wow. I bet when people got your packages they would squeal out loud.
I've never sold any crochet that I had to ship, but I sell jewelry through my website and I put it in a little baggie, then in a colorful kraft box, then in a padded tyvec envelope. If I can or am in the mood, I somewhat match the color of the box to the piece.
I also put in a thank you card that has a percent or dollar amount code off the next order that usually expires within a month. Now I'm doing a free pair of earrings with the next purchase. I've had quite a few take advantage of these. You could also invite them to give away their discount card to friend if they won't be using it.
That might be something if you are going to be selling crochet pieces regularly, to get customers to come back. They might buy a matching scarf to go with their hat with the discount.

These are all wonderful tips. The last few times I sold my crochet work, the people just grabbed them from my hands so there is no packaging involved. LOL

what can I say?
