Ok sisters and brothers of the hook. My mom is on her way over to teach me how to join and make granny squares, and I lost the pattern I had marked due to the storm last night!!! It is white snowflake/star looking grannies with a dark blue backround, and I am almost positive the white is mohair. Please if anyone can help whilst I look everywhere, it would be lovely. Sppecially since I dont need my mom to think I am a dork about anything more in my life!!:devil

Laura, I have made this afghan and it is beautiful. I did add on more row to make it a little larger. Here is a picture of it before it was unfinished.

:lol :lol Me too, me too! I made the art of tangle one and get comments all the time, you can see mine here (http://byhookorbycrook.blogspot.com/2006/03/no-two-snowflakes-are-alike.html) It was a fun pattern that looked hard to me but I didn't have any problems with it.

And me! I loved making this and I usually hate making anything that has to be joined. I found it less painful to join the squares into strips as I made them so I didn't have to do it all at once.

Chrome: I like the red background. I had thought about making one with a burgandy background.

Thank you. I like yours too. Is that Bernat Denim blue? Burgundy would be cool, maybe with a cream or off white for the snowflakes. It would look very warm and inviting.:c9

Terry, Isn't the Christmas yarn a little different weight than the regular ww? I was thinking that having some sparkle in the white would look very pretty. I'm glad you posted yours! It is lovely.

i love the one from www.artoftangle.com (http://www.artoftangle.com) i have done it in the blue and white but also a red and white combo. my favorite was a pink and white i did in baby yarn for a baby's first winter. the pattern is definately a keeper!

About how big are the individual motifs and the completed ArtofTangle snowflake afghan? It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere.
Edit: Well, I just made up one test motif with regular WW Red heart yarn and it came to 8 inches across. My motif is kinda lumpy and doesn't lie flat, but I'm hoping that's normal.

Kathryn, The Christmas yarn is ww but slightly thinner than the navy. Not enough to be a problem.
jura 2908 - I love the idea of that pattern in baby colors. What a great idea.

Chrome: The background of my afghan was the Walmart brand of yarn. I can't even remember what they call it. It is various shades of blue and reminds me of a very dark night. YEAH, burgany with off white flakes. That sounds so nice.

Well, I just started making snowflakes! I'm doing the white (I have Caron One Pound on hand) first. I have 2 of the Caron One Pound in Midnight Blue. That might look nice. I haven't decided yet. It seems squares take so much longer to make than my other afghans. Oh well, I don't need it until Christmas! I would have loved to use the Christmas sparkle yarn, but I don't have any on hand. (Still need to use up stash!!). I would love to see some of the other colors done up.

I love everyone's versions! The red background is very striking! I also thought of trying it in an emerald green for an aunt who is crazy about green :D

Wow, this works up really fast. I did two out of some scrap wool (note to self: use the same size hook so they match, duh!) one light flake with dark bkg, one dark flake with light bkg and then whipped them together to form a potholder. And that is the extent of my attention span so I don't know if I'll ever make the whole afghan...
