i have 11 skeins of jewel box (smoky quartz) it's a greenish and maroonish (like those "ishes") type color with a pretty (here we go, more "ishes") yellow/goldish type thread wrapped with it... it is #4 medium weight fashion yarn. (hand wash/lay flat to dry - ugh - read labels before you buy!)
i want to make a blanket with it and there is a free one on the wrapper, very pretty. however, not quite what i'm looking for.
i was thinking of doing a star blanket, but couldnt find anything to go with this yarn. i am pretty sure it should be a solid color.
would any of you be able to help me?
thanks

I would just follow any round ripple or star blanket pattern with the jewel box, but use the hook indicated on the label. It would still look pretty in a solid color.

I bought some Jewel Box recently, too. Found it on the clearance rack in Hobby Lobby. :hook The color is Fire Opal, which is a mixture of red and green with a gold thread running through it. I thought it looked like the perfect thing for a Christmas shawl or afghan, :rud so I bought all they had. :yarn I decided to make a little drawstring bag out of some of it too, which I'm working on now, then I'll get my shawl started. I'm loving the way it looks so far. :gift It's velvety, and the colors mix nicely. :ctree

exactly what i thought when i bought the smokey quartz!
very elegent colors for christmas..... my mother thought i shouldnt buy it as it would only be "used" at the holiday. if i'm making it for me, it would probably be used year round!:lol

I just made a wrap out of a jewel box...very nice soft, easy easy to work!
I got it on sale at Walmart...had to do something with it.

this is my latest fascination...I think EVERYTHING can be worked into this pattern. Just finished a white ping pong shawl, with pom poms at each corner, and now work on a Paton Pebbles...in the same pattern. I'm visualizing a good jewel box shawl over my evening wear?
:D

All I've made with Jewelbox is scarves but they've worked up beautifully.
