Could you tell me the name of the pattern booklet that came from ? It is very pretty and you are doing nice work on it !
You have a lucky girlfriend . Does she know you are making her something, or is it a secret ?

HI everyone, I am ashamed to say I have fallen behind on Christmas gifts. Lucky for me cold weather has moved in, and I should be getting back to business. I have had serious internet issues lately, but am glad to be back. I bought the new houses to paint for this year, and can't wait to get started on them.

And Crafty BOy 13, that is so beautiful, you are doing an amazing job!!! :clap

MOre later, help get me going again folks. Love you all.

Howdy!

I've been on hiatus from C'Ville over the summer, but now I'm back and was excited to see this Christmas gift Crochet-Along; can I still join in? I have been working on gifts for the last month or so and could use the encouragement to keep going! Here is my to-do list (so far):

Dr. Who scarf for husband (started)
kitchen set for mom (started)
kitchen set for MIL
kitchen set for Dad
kitchen set for friend (started)
amigurumi horse for nephew
long pointy winter hat for friend (still need to find pattern)

Looks like everyone is doing great stuff and accomplishing a lot. I'd love to join in the fun.

Oh this is the perfect CAL for me because I have FOUR afghans I need to have made before Christmas... all for people I haven't met yet! Ok, I've met one of them... but the rest are girlfriends/wives of my honey's brothers! I only know bits and pieces about each person, and I'm sure I'll meet them over Thanksgiving. But I have to start the afghans immediately! I'm going to be making one for him, too... and I'm going to do it without him knowing... if I can. The wife that I have already met is new to America... from Romania. And she's everything stereotype you've ever heard. lol Young, blonde, and beautiful. She's extremely smart, and I have no idea where to start. UGH... I'm definetely going to need the inspiration of the board to get through this!

I would love to join this also. I actually started the end of July, but i am already finished with a couple of them. I need to get started on the rest. i am making a scarf for my uncles and aunt, an afghan for my brother, and bookmarks for his fiancee. I have the afghan and one of the scarves finished, also one of the bookmarks. I need to get my butt in gear with the rest of it because I usually start baking the first of December and I want to be finished with my crocheted gifts by then.

Well I scrapped the beach bag idea for the girls' friend I found something a little quicker to make. Amigurumi Dude's found here http://www.crochetme.com/amigurumi-dude?emc=&m=154272&v=105550&l=20
I'm adjusting it a bit by adding ears and tails for some bunnies, bears, and kitties. They are turning out sooo cute.

Ok, count me in. I've actually been working on my Christmas gifts for a couple of weeks now, but this CAL will help to keep me motivated and it will be good to have others :cheer me on as Christmas gets closer. Here is the list of items I have planned with my progress so far:

Mom and Dad -- Drew's Monet Afghan, 1 sq complete, have started 2nd sq

Sister -- Beth's Little Star Afghan, 24 rows complete out of 55

Brother -- Irish Flag Afghan (my own creation), just started this. Since this is my own pattern and I wasn't quite sure how I wanted it, I ended up frogging a couple of times, but I finally have it figured out and am able to keep going.

Co-workers -- Thread snowflake ornaments, I haven't started on these yet

I'm also going to make some scarfs to have on hand just in case there are people that I need a gift for unexpectedly. The other plan is to try and sell some at work for other people to use as Christmas gifts.

I've read through all the posts here so far and everyone's projects look great.

i've actually been kind of sidetracked from my lovely afghan by a little project.
have any of you seen the new iPod nano commercial? (the one with the streaks of light) well i found a way to get almost the same effect, so i made something comparable for the Zune (a soon to be released iPod killer from Microsoft)
right now google won't let anyone view it, but once its open for all to see i'll post a link. it actually looks pretty cool.

Hi all! I have a quick question... Does anyone have family that could possibly come to this website and see what they're getting for Christmas? :) I have family that I tell about this place all the time (Mom and sister crochet) and I'm always wondering if they get on and see this! :) Oh well, if they do they do... I haven't finished much for Christmas presents, but I'm working on it!

i needed to share my progress, i have this week alone completed 25 rows of Danielles blanket, and i think i might be making it too long.... if there is such a thing, lol. its not as wide as i thought, only big enough for one person, so i want it extra long, so i her and her hubby sit on their couch like me and my hubby do (so in theory we could be rubbing eachothers feet....since well we both too big to lay down spooing, lol) then there will be enough for both of them to be covered pretty well.... we'll see how it works now wont we. Ran into a snag and need even more yarn for it, so will be out shopping this weekend to pick some up.

I have only 6 rows left of the round ripple i am making for the pastors new baby, which we found out is a boy, so the bright yellow and white caron ss will be great, and now i know for sure i need to make a little boy outfit for the teddy bear i crocheted him.

i have made 10/20 of the thread snowflakes that i am making for chrsitmas cards, and plan to start today on the jar toppers for my gifts in a jar.... will have about 20 of those. I also need to finish up Jadyn's stocking, and add the frills to Dawn and Mackenzie's and finally put those babies to rest, lol.

I've been real busy and real motivated this week, and am so excited and back in the swing of things. My house is even clean.... :cheer

My camera isnt funcitoning right, i need a new digital camera, maybe santa will bring me one, but i do hope to have pics up soon.

Hope u are all doing well!!!!!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I had to do last min. stuff for a 50th anniversary party for my parents. The sibs and I started last Nov.- Dec.
The party was Oct. 21st. It turned out great!! Alot of relatetives (from out of state and Canada) came, about 90 all together.
Now that it's over, I can get back to crocheting.
I finished 18 Christmas stockings, 2 purses, 2 more to go. I like the idea of a big crayon pillow, for a boy. I think I have the pattern somewhere. I hope I have enough time (it'll go to AZ).

Ok I now have a list of gifts to make:

Great Grandma and Grandad >> Hexagon Motif Lapghan
My Sister Skye >> Comfort Pack
Mum and Dad >> Animal Potholders Set
Jo >> Victorian Rose Doily

That's what i have so far. I have completed 21 motifs for the hexagon lapghan and haven't started on anything else yet. I better get a move on. I only came up with this list yesterday though as I realised I would have time to make more because I'll be able to finish the hexagon lapghan sooner then I thought!!

Will keep you all posted and congratulations you are all progressing so well with your gift lists. GOOD ON YOU! :cheer :clap :hug :ghug :yay

This past weekend I crocheted ornies for my swap partners and finished up ds#4's pillow with his team name and number graphed in. Today I finished dh's pillow with the Greek alphabet( yep, he's a bit of a geek)..tomorrow I start my ds#1's NASCAR graphghan. The color changes will drive me insane. I just talked to him a couple of hours ago and he was coming home from the races in Atlanta.

...I have more ornies to make, an afghan for Jeremy and heather, slippers for Jeremy, a felted purse for Heather, a purse for Emily and maybe some slippers for dh. I need to come up with something for my 7yo neice.
I think I can get everything done. My problem is I get side tracked by cute projects I want to try.

How long do you find it takes a ripple afghan? I really like them but am not sure if I have enough time to make one before Christmas.

Yours is very very pretty by the way.

The regular sc and dc rows in this went really quick, what took a while was the rows of puff stitches (the tan and blue rows between). I could typically do a section of puff stitch, dc, sc, dc, puff stitch rows in about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on how many times I had to chase the cat off the other end. ;) It also helped that after I had done the first repeat section, I didn't have to consult the pattern again. Usually, once that level of repetition is achieved, the pattern work MUCH faster.

This took me about a month of mostly evenings (about 2 hours each) and Sundays (about 4-5 hours each) to get it done. I'm not the world's fasted crocheter!

Thanks for the compliments! :c9

I'm making my stepmom a lapghan with Minnie Mouse cross stitched on it, I made her the Mickey Mouse one last year.

So far I have the main part of the lapghan done (158 rows of 110 single crochet in off white) I have the pink cross stiching done (shoes and bow) and I'm started on the purple dress. I've got about a month to get it done cause we usually celebrate with my dad in the begining of Dec.

Wow! I've finished my last afghan! That is 9 afghans total. They are all completely different and many are my own patterns. I haven't had a chance to take photos yet, but I will.

I've also completed my snowflake ornaments, blocked-stiffened and ready to give. This was my first time to make them and I am very pleased with the outcome! I tried different stiffeners and I have decided I prefer the cornstarch method. Again, photos to come.

The other project I have been working on is American girl doll clothes for my granddaughters. I have been very busy creating my own patterns as I haven't found too many out there. I think they will be pleased with their gifts. Some of the clothes are knit instead of crocheted, and I am sewing up some more clothes. Again, photos to come later.

I am currently working on towel toppers for Christmas. Mine are the buttonless type, as I don't care for the type with buttons. I made a really cute pointsetta one and a wreath so far.

I really need to get the camera out! Happy Hooking!

Alright, I am joining in with ya'll because I have a Christmas list longer than I care to think about.

Mom: Snowflake Afghan
Dad: not really sure, he is a difficult one
Rebecca: slippers, socks, something else that I haven't decided on yet
Ashley: slippers, cable purse
Kristen: slippers, necklace
Miko: cow slippers, cow
Meghan: I can't post that here, because she is one the site too
Lindsey: slippers, don't know what else yet
Maria: slippers, coasters
Bruce: slippers, I don't know what else
Barry: slippers

Can anybody sense a theme?

I really hope that I am not getting in over my head with all of this, but it is worth trying for.

I haven't posted in a while - I've been too busy crocheting!! :) I finished an afghan for my aunt a couple weeks ago and the sweet pea shawl for my mother-in-law, and I'm about a third of the way through an afghan for my mom. And today I finally finished 13 sets of coasters my mom asked me to make so she could give away for christmas - whew, what a relief to have that done!! I still plan to make a cat couch, and a couple other things, but I'm making good progress towards christmas.

Crystal - I'd love to see pics of the minnie and mickey afghans, sounds great!!

Happy crocheting everyone!!

Bella: a huge triangle shawl
Greg: hat with flowers
Ian: "guy" hat
Geoff: hat, of course!
Courtney: hat with a star on it
Father: an afgahn
Sister and her baby: matching scarfs

ds#3...National Guard emblem done

ds#3's gf purse... just needs a button

Bella - what pattern are you using for the slippers?

I am not sure yet. I know that I am doing the cow slippers on the Michaels website and that I am also going to improvise using that pattern to also make a pair of kitty slippers and bunny slippers. For the rest though, none that I have found really seem all that cushy and cozy. If anyone has any suggestions for some that would be nice for young adult ladies who a bit trendy, it would be much appreciated. There are a pair that I rather like, but they really don't seem all that cozy. If anybody has made them, could you let me know? Here is the link:

I just changed and added somethings for my christmas list, as if it wasn't long enough! Instead of making the shawl for Bella, my future mother in law, due to a mix up in yarn, I'm going to make her this bath kit. http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/bathset.htm
I figured it'd be adorable to do something like that and throw in a lot of good smelling citrusy things. And I also decided that instead of making matching scarves for my sister and her baby, I've decided that my neice will be just as happy with some stuffed animals and books. So instead, for my sister since she's pregnant again and has a 1 and a half year old running around, I'm going to make her the same thing as Bella, except her's will all be in burgendies and purples in some sort of matching basket with lightly scented berry things. Also, while I did finish the hat for hte boyfriend, I kind of already told him about it! :blush So I figured I'll give it to him over Thanksgiving break so while he's finishing up college he'll have something else to remember me by and I'll just figure out what to get him! So... updated list:

Jack and Greg: chocolate brown with turquoise hats with stars
Ian: The UBW hat in black and dark green
Courtney: maybe a purple scarf?
Rich: syracuse color basketball or something... maybe navy blue with the orange as the stripes on it?
The three cats: cat nip mice
Bella: bath set basket all in blues
Margi: bath set basket in purples
And I think that's everyone!

Potato fudge? :think Hmmm....

As for the bath set, I know! I was so thrilled to find something like that. I'm thinkign I might have to make myself one of them after christmas. I just love the fact that it's like all the fancy store bought ones but this one doesn't come across with the message of "I didn't know what to buy you so... um... here." since I actually do like some of those kits.

I have lots of gifts to make for Christmas. I thought maybe this will keep me going on them. I love the Mickey and Minney afghans. They're beautiful!

I'm working on a hat for my grandaughter. I got the pattern here:

http://members.aol.com/sbaycgoa/patberet.htm

Also working on a shrug for her from the October issue of Annie's Favorite Crochet called "Cottan Candy". I ordered a book from Annie's Attic today so I can make a little monkey for my grandson and little grandaughter. Only about a month to go and still haven't decided on everything to make but I've been getting lots of ideas from reading posts in this forum.

Ok, on my second Christmas Blanket I've got 15 rows done so far. It's a nice simple pattern, 215 DC per row, every other row has a couple of open spaces, and there are 79 rows, plus edging, I'm doing 5 rows a day, plus what ever extra time I have to work on it!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!
I plan on sitting down after a nice big meal and doing some major work on my gift.
a little tip for those who dont want to fall asleep after dinner today:
Eat some cranberry sauce, it counteracts the chemical in turkey (Tryptophan) that makes you sleepy. kinda interesting how its been a Thanksgiving tradition to have cranberry sauce with the meal

Penny, I'm coming right along on the beret. I started it about an hour ago and I'm on round 6. I decided I have to get serious about getting some of the Christmas gifts done. I would like to get at least one done a day and start on another, bigger project each day, too so I'll get them all done. I have a book coming tomorrow or next week from Annie's Attic. There's a monkey pattern in it that I want to make two of. I had bid on it at Ebay but got outbid so I checked on it at Annie's. It was on clearance for 59 cents! I couldn't believe it! The starting bid at Ebay had been $3.99. Next week I'm going to get the SnB Crochet book. I'll have so many new patterns to look forward to.

I am also working on a beret for my sister and have made no more progress on the lapghan for my great grandparents because I can't afford to get any more yarn for it :cry.

I actually finished a few this weekend. Christmas Gifts Wearables (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=39169) - link to the pics. A scarf, slippers and hand warmers. I have another scarf started.

My quilt afghan will probably wait and then I'll decide what to do with it. It's a looong process and I haven't had time to work on it and I'l half way through. Unless I work on it the 3 days I'm off from work... but that's for cleaning and finishing up. So that will wait.

Some people won't get crocheted gifts... I thought maybe throwing in a snowflake or something, but we'll see how my time goes.

I'm finishing up on her purse, too. Do you block purses? I have a goose bib that just needs a button put on it, a doll that needs two rows crocheted then sewn onto the body and her face embroidered on and a monkey that needs arms finished and attached and ears put on his head. July? I was thinking maybe...starting tomorrow?

I had so many good intentions, but with working two jobs and having Christmas at my place this year (yesterday), I could only get a large afghan done for my MIL and a BICO for my great nephew. So I need a lot of time to make my presents for next Christmas.
