I am cleaning out my bins of unfinished projects and such, and I have several granny squares. They aren't high quality either. Some of them were given to me and some my siblings learned on. So they aren't uniform size and there are several colors. Any suggestions on what I could do with them? I thought of a small animal blanket maybe, but I'm looking around. (Can't get them to line up right withthe colors!:D )

Pick a neutral color (cream, grey, white, black, tan) that "goes" with most everything and add rows on the smaller ones till they are all about the same size. Then you can join and make into a pet afghan, car afghan, playroom afghan, or who know, by that point you might really like it and want to display it prominently! :))

my thought was to back them with thick felt and use as hotpads. that might be a nice memory item for your mom.

I was thinking of doing them as hot pads, (We really need some) But Mom was worried about the heat with the thin squares. I never thought of felt. Thanks!
The animal blanket might happen as well. I'll wait awhile to decide.
Thanks!

i found a pile of squares too while cleaning out my basement ... thank goodness i also had some Christmas dishes that needed re-packing, so i used the squares in between my plates saucers & bowls too keep them from getting scratched & broken.

Hi Amber,
You could send a few to Erin's Helpng Hands. I saw your post and thought I would send a few.:)

HI Seneca, I hope to send some items to Erin's helping hands sometime, but these squares aren't the quality I would send. I didn't make most of them, so I'm not even sure about the knots. So, these won't leave the house. :) Do you get Erin's newsletter?

Coasters? Put some backing on, and you got a nice coaster.

Hi Amber,
I haven't signed up for Erin's news letter yet. I think what she does is so nice that I know I have squares I could donate. I was thinking about what you could do with your squares and I don't know how young or old your sisters and bothers are but if you have some that match, maybe you could sew 9 together like a tic tac toe board and then make some things for the X's and O's.

Coralie,
that's an interesting idea. I don't think it will work for the squares I have right now, but that's definetly an idea to keep in mind. Thanks!
(Yes, Erin's Helping hands is a great orginazation)
