LionBrand has a link to a new magazine on their website, but darned if I can find it anywhere else. I must be blind, I'm not finding a thing on the BH&G website. :th

Simply Creative Crochet (http://pages.lionbrand.com/6030/PictPage/1922209127.html)

Bernat has a mention of a 'new' magazine coming out on October 7th or 8th, but with a picture of last years issue so I don't know if that is the proper date or not.

I haven't seen it any where else either, but I haven't checked at Barnes and Noble or AC Moore yet. I checked the BH&G website, too, and only found info on the last issue.

Hi ladies! The new issue is expected to hit newsstands on Oct. 7, but I have heard that it's already in some Walmarts. :woohoo People who ordered it by calling BH&G's 800 number already got it. I've heard good things about it. If the patterns inside are anything like the 16 free ones on the LB Web site, it should be a great magazine!!! :D

I got mine today at Target. :) I found the Woman's Day in their magazine section and while in line to check out I saw in their racks around the register CROCHET. :yay Ah, the joys of leaving a store with two never before seen crochet magazines. :cloud9

I had found this at Barnes and Noble on Saturday, but had to wait until today to buy a copy! (Didn't have enough cash on me, no ATM card or blank checks! Had to wait to hit the credit union for some cash... LOL)

I <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/rowofhearts.gif" /> that car coat! I picked up a copy for a coworker as well, and that was the first thing she said that she would make out! LOL I also love the strawberry sweater with matching hat for a "baby" girl. Too cute!!!

Would somebody be willing to pick me up a copy and send it to me? I will pay shipping and the cost of the magazine, of course.

*I'm putting this everywhere because I want to see the magazines, too!*

I'm still waiting impatiently for mine, the only crochet mag in our whole stinkin walmart supercenter is Interweave Crochet which I've already bought. I know I like the blue hooded jacket on the cover, LB Colorwaves I think. I would adore wearing that!! :)h

Is anyone going to try the sheep in there?
I've never done a stuffed animal before and I'm scared <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/chicken.gif" />

I was thinking a little version would be adorable. If I wanted to be masochistic, could I follow the same directions, but use thread and a steel hook???

I'm working on the lamb right now, Holly. :)) This is my first time at a stuff animal also. I'm using the Jiffy Fisherman that it calls for and the mohair look really gives it an adorable sheepy/furry look. I've been surprised at how easy the pattern is to follow and how quickly it's working up. I'm almost through with the body and if I didn't wander between projects, I would probably be done with the crocheting (not assembling) by now. I bet that with a little patience you could make it with a smaller hook and thread.

This is the only photo I have of it - it's on the left -

Cool!
Thanks! It's looking great so far <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/clap.gif" />

The other crazy idea I had was to make it with real wool and full it, but then I figured it might not shrink the right ways.

Your welcome and thanks, Holly! :hug

I don't know how the bobbles would look fulled, but it might be worth swatching and trying out. :thinking1 My greatest fear is doing the embroidery work for the eyes. I don't understand the stitches they're describing. :thinking2 I should be able to find stitch instructions somewhere on the internet though. :computer

I bought and LOVE this magazine. I usually think crochet mag. clothes are too--???--for me to wear, but I like alot of the stuff in this issue.

I just bought yarn to make the mohair and roses sweater. I cannot wait for it to get here. I decided to use homespun instead of mohair though, so it will be a bit different than the picture. I'm psyched!

Just gotta pick up 2 more colors for the trim & pocket. Then at some point i'm gonna make me the hooded car coat. That's the patttern i fell in love with and wanted the mag for!! Ohhhhhhh......i love the new project fever!!!:clap

Do you think TLC's Amore would be a good substitute for the Colorwaves in the Hooded Car Coat??? :thinking1 I have 4 or 5 skeins of it without a pattern. Well I found a pattern but decided against it.

~Rebecca

rebeccav
November 2, 2004, 02:05 PM
hmmmm, gosh rebecce, i think the amore is probably too thin for a substitute????
someone else have an opinion?:thinking1

DawnsRays
November 2, 2004, 03:22 PM
Unless you want to mess with gauge and all that comes with that, your should probably substitute with another "bulky" type yarn. Amore is worsted weight and therefore thinner. Maybe two strands held together, but then your looking at more money.:sweat

Shoot!!::irked I really didn't want to have to buy more yarn to make it cause that means it might not get done. Thanks for telling me though. I really am anxious to find a good pattern for that amore, I love it just am having a hard time picking what to make!!!:thinking2

OK - I'm jealous of you all! I have been looking EVERYWHERE for this magazine and can't find it! :bang I guess I'm just going to have to resort to calling the 1-800 number to order it. Might just have to order the last one as well, now that I know that I can...:))

Yeah Rebecca, I'm wanting something I can wear, I got it in one of my most favorite shades of blue, the lake blue and I was gonna knit the bernat boa poncho pattern with it but chickened out and now I just can't find the right project for it. Very frustrating cause it's sooooo soft and I love that blue!!! :worried You have any ideas for me? My knitting skills are just barely beyond beginner but in crochet, I'll tackle any pattern as long as it's not thread.

Um something that doesn't have too many seams and where the yarn will look nice. I've never used it before so I'm not really sure what kind of pattern to try with it.
Which issue of Woman's Day are you talking about? The latest one I have is dated november 16th. But I only see one scarf in it and I don't think that's what you're talkin about.

I really like this magazine. I've made the caplet with Berroco Suede and some of the flowers, and I'm currently woeking on the Lacy Beaded Scarf.

I was hoping they'd have the next issue, but it's the one I already have. Boo hoo. I think BH & G would have a hit on their hands if they'd publish it regularly. I can't get out to book stores, so I guess I'll just have to be frustrated til October or whenever it gets published.
