I got the newest Patterworks catalog yesterday, and they had a crochet book I hadn't seen before...it looks really good, on the cover was some nice modern patterns, and the description promised some good things...Link to the book at Amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1589231864/qid=1095004705/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4516333-9108656?v=glance&s=books)

Although the title was cheese-y (Ready, Set, Crochet) I'm curious as to how the book will be, and will probably buy it from Patternworks. (The cover warned that it might be my last issue, and I saw the sheepie tape measure in there!!!)

Also new, was Crocheting School (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1402708319/qid=1095004897/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4516333-9108656?v=glance&s=books), which seemed to promise some really good techniques, such a Irish lace and ribbon borders, working with beads, etc., and another new book, Learn to Crochet (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1580111769/qid=1095005074/sr=ka-2/ref=pd_ka_2/103-4516333-9108656). While it doesn't have a picture on Amazon, in the catalog it did, and it seems to look like a good comprehensive crochet guide, without the newbie ugly patterns. Which is always good when trying to drag newbies into our craft :)

Hi Everyone,

I found your group awhile ago but just haven't had time to post anything.

Just a heads up on that Ready Set book. If you have a Michaels store near you, check and see if they have it. I saw it last weekend at a store near me. It wasn't as hokey as the title would lead you to believe. I haven't crochet'd in awhile - I'm currently on a knitting kick - and have been looking for a book with some easy projects to warm up with. I didn't get it, but I'm still thinking about it. It did have a few cute things in it but since I'm relatively low on the skill totem pole, I don't know that I'd recommend it to anyone too advanced if you get bored.

Thanks for all the info you guys post. I've really enjoyed all the info!

My :2 ......since I kn*t too I've always been getting that catalog, but I AM noticing that CROCHET is really 'catching' on in marketing :clap
I drool over that catalog ..just got mine two days ago. Love the 'hooks' that show a crochet project. I could spend a fortune in there!

I showed my husband the FX Bali ($50/skein), the Lusso ($58/sk), AND Helen's Lace ($48/skein) SOMEBODY pleeeease tell me WHY my hubby doesn't understand this stuff!!!????????
:shrug

You know how they have the yarn grouped in 'yarn weight'? I was thinking of calling the company and having my future catalog to have the yarn grouped by price!!!!! :nana
HA! What do YOU guys think?:hyper
