I have been told the original version of this patterns is called "Remember the Kittens," and was published in the book Great Big Crochet Afghan Book (page 124) by the American School of Needlework.


Someone contacted me with a concern that the pattern in the link above, as it's an adaptation of the original pattern, could be a copyright infringement. I do not have the original pattern to be able to compare the two versions myself. However, I did find a close-up picture of the original pattern design on someone's blog (detail of the afghan this person made) and compared that to the detail on the adapted version. The final results appear to be different enough that copyright infringement is very likely not a concern.

Plus, I found links to Bev's patterns on two sites that are very well-known for respecting and protecting the copyrights of original designers, so I think it's very unlikely there is an issue with copyright infringement in the adapted pattern.

I made this afghan last winter with different color yarns. You need contrast to be able to see the kittens!
