I haven't taught many people, so for all I know, many people could already use this method.

But, I was teaching my 13 year old cousin how to crochet a few days ago, and I was trying to think of a good mneumonic device for her to remember how to do it. We were watching Big Daddy at the time, where Sonny is teaching Julian to use the loop swoop and pull method for tying his shoes and I realized that it would work for teaching her how to crochet as well!

Loop(stick the hook from the loop[stitch])
Swoop(swoop the yarn around the hook)
Pull(pull the yarn through the stitch)

She totally got it too! I'm gonna try this method from now on.

:cheer A Slip Stitch is just a CH but sticking the hook through the fabric first.
:think Every crochet stitch is a variation on the Chain, nothing more complicated.
Keep it simple.
Hope this is helpful.
Have fun.
