I'm looking for unisex baby booties/layette patterns (preferrably free, lol!) that aren't made for Nanook of the North.
I want to make some booties for one baby (a boy, currently 3 months) and for a girl (due in December), but we're in Florida, and it never gets really cold down here.
Does anyone have any patterns they could suggest for lightweight babywear or for some baby socks (rather than heavy booties)?
I'd so appreciate it!:manyheart

Do you happen to have the Crochet Pattern A Day Calendar? If so there is a nice pattern there on Monday August 21st. If not go to www.crochetpatterncentral.com (http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com) they lots of free patterns available there.
Also read the thread about people who have lost there favorites list. I just added to my list of free patterns. I wrote them out so if I ever lose my favorites list I have them written out.

No, I don't have that calendar. My friend does, though. I'll see if she still has that page.
I did check that link (I have it bookmarked), but was just sooo overwhelmed with how many choices there were, lol! I was sort of wondering if anyone had a tried and true sort of pattern they liked that they could point me to, even if it's in a book. I can always check the library for it or check the used book stores or something, too.
Just want to be clear that I'm not asking FOR the pattern; just for a link to a pattern or a general idea of where I might find good "Florida weight" baby patterns.

try making the "nanook" booties with crochet cotton (doily cotton) and a smaller hook. they wouldn't be as warm as wool but they would probably provide enough protection.

i recently bought a thread bootie pattern from e-pattern central and it's super sweet (even though I havent completed one). they're pretty, petite, and alter the hook size they can be a bit bigger/smaller to suit your need. i hunted for free thread booties a long time before finally commiting to buy as i really dont have money to waste. or try the lacier baby-weight patterns as the lace will allow plenty of air to flow and keep it cooler :) best of luck

Hi Tiga, I'm right now working on the baby's first bootie pattern in erica knight's book 'essential crochet'. The pattern calls for a 3mm hook - but I'm using a 4mm one and 4 ply cotton by Sirdair. The bootie is more of a ballet slipper pattern but totally totally cute. With the bigger hook, it is definitely very 'cool' for hot weather. Weather in Singapore (where I am) is hot & humid year round, so I totally get what you're looking for... :)) Good luck!
