Hi there,
I'm new to this site but was recommended to try it out from RachelG regarding one particular pattern I am looking for. It is for a baby afghan and the pattern is called Underwater Adventure Crochet Afghan. My neice is having a baby around Christmas and has done the nursery in an underwater theme, so this would be the perfect gift for her. I found the completed afghan for sale on ebay and would love to find the pattern for it. I am pretty creative with some ideas but this one looks too nice to try(in case I mess it up). I'm including the link for the picture of the blanket and would greatly appreciate any help someone might have on where I can find this pattern. Thank you all.

Hi Holly, if you read the descritption, the ebayer is selling the PATTERN and not a completed afghan :) best of luck with your bidding :D it is a really sweet pattern!

Auction is for the pattern only and not the finished product.

my bad! i didnt realise the auction was completed! :think :lol Just a thought, try contacting the seller of that particular auction and asking them what book was "destined for the garbage" so you can try and locate another copy

*bump*

Does any one know where this leaflet could be purchased, other than hoping it will show up again on ebay?

Thanks!

You need to contact the seller of this afghan to find out which book it is in. once you know that, i'm sure the book can be found.

wow! that's really beautiful!

doesn't look like it would be too terribly difficult to duplicate but i think it would be a lot easier with the pattern! good luck!

That's what I was thinking.
Make a square and find some fishy patterns here:

I have this pattern; it's called Underwater Adventures and is designed by Karen Rigsby. It is in Chapter 1 titled Judges' Choice Afghans in Blue Ribbon Crochet. I'm afraid that's all I can tell you because I just have the clipping from the book.

I just emailed the seller to see if she has more information. If she does, I'll post it here.

Lisa,

You are a good egg! I wonder how legal it was for that ebayer to sell that pattern? Seems kind of fishy to me....

I doubt that the book was on the way to the garbage.
She probably removed it from the book!
For that price she should have sold the entire book to the buyer.

Lots of people on ebay sell just one pattern ripped from books. They just go ahead and sell them individually. As long as it is the original print they can go right ahead and sell it.

anyways, not to get started on that. i'm glad you found the pattern though!! YAYAY. It's awfully pretty.

YAY!!!! I would also LOVE to know exactly which book it came from. If it is currently on ebay...I promise not to bid against you :manyheart . Would just like to know for the next one that comes up for auction.

I'm waiting for Holly (the original poster) to reply (either email, pm or post on this thread) and then I'll reveal. I want her to have a chance at it first.. I know you, Robin, and the others who have helped look would be honorable.. but...this is a public forum, and ..... enuff said.

As to taking individual patterns out of a book.. it's legal.. altho it breaks my heart to see a book defaced. I even hate the "art" people make out of old books.

Completely understandable :yes

I know it is legal to sell just the one page from a book....but it drives me nuts!!!!:angry I wish they would at least tell you exactly which book it came from:(

After you give the person a chance at the book, can you tell us who the publisher is, what the date of the book is, etc? I'd like to see if I could find it, too.

Thanks! :)

For that price she should have sold the entire book to the buyer. I emailed the Ebay seller to ask about the pattern when the question first came up, before birdlady1 gave us the title. She seemed a nice and genuine person to me; she even bothered to email me back twice, because the first time the auction link telling her what pattern I was asking about didn't get included :)

This is what she said:

I went back & checked & this pattern has already shipped out. I'm not sure which book it came from- I had 3 different books that were used during that time frame & I don't have the covers/ titles to any of them. I do know that at least one of them was an Annie's Attic book & I think another was House of White Birches but don't remember the titles. Sorry! That auction TOTALLY took me by surprise- I couldn't believe what it went for! If I could find another one, I would definitely put it on too! Good luck & hope you can find it.

I thought that was pretty nice of her.

Wow, I'm surprised that's legal. I hate the thought of a book being defaced, also. The book is only 2 years. You ought to be able to find it in a well stocked bookstore. You can get it on Amazon for $13.57.
