I just don't have the patience for elaborate doll clothes! I love looking at everyone else's work but it's not for me. I'm not good with doilies either! LOL But I'm quite certain once you get started and start sharing your pics in progress, those that actually do enjoy making elaborate doll clothing will wanna jump right in!

I'm very interested in working on a doll. I am taking the pattern with me to a committe meeting for a charity auction this weekend. I think it would be fun to do and offer at the auction. Is that an acceptable use of the pattern????? I'm new to the board and not sure about the copyright and selling (i.e. auctioning in this case).

As a newbie -- I've sure had fun looking at all the posts and seeing what everyone is working on. I may work my way through those 13 boxes of yarn my Mom has stored in my garage yet. Can't wait until I have pictures to post of completed projects.

Hi Needle Arts,
I have no Idea about the copyright of auction it off...as far as I know all the free pattern on the web are FOR YOUR OWN USE ONLY....
better safe than sorry...
I would not recommend to auction it off...
sorry bout that

( but you might contact the DESIGNER of the pattern and see what they say )

Thank you for the information. I was kind of afraid I couldn't use it for the charity auction but I will contact them for specifics and let you know. I'm going to be off the board for a few days but will get back to you.

Request for information sent:

Visitor Feedback: I am interested in your beautiful Indian Princess IV doll pattern. I have been asked to provide a project for a local charity auction and was wondering about your copyright/selling regulations. Could this pattern be completed and auctioned at a charity event? I appreciate your looking into this for me and look forward to your response.

Received Sept 22, 2006
Response from company:

Dear Ms. XXXX
Yes, you may make the pattern and sell the finished product - the only thing you cannot do is copy and sell the pattern itself!
Good luck,
The Fibre-Craft Team

Years ago I bought a kit to make that same doll but I could swear it was by a different company-maybe they've just changed the packaging, it has been about 5 years. The problem I had was that the beads they included were not the beads for the dress and I couldn't get all the beads I needed locally so it kept getting put away for later.

I did finally finish crocheting it but have not finished up on the fringing or obtaining the beads. The actual crocheting of the dress was not that diffucult, I had more problems with getting both sleeves to match and had to do the second moccasin about three times-lack of practice really hurt me there. But she is a beautiful doll and someday I may even finish her!

I will try to remember to dig her out and get some pics if anybody is interested. I guess I could leave the dress plain if I wanted to . . .

I would love to see pics of your doll. I love these patterns - I am working one slowly for a friend and some inspiration would go a long way to getting me on the go.

I bought this pattern yrs ago along with several other doll patterns. I did this particular one for my mother for Christmas one yr, each yr she got a new doll. It really was easier than it looks. Back then I wasn't as experienced as I am now. The fringe was tedious. I had to go out and buy all the supplies, I didn't have a kit and it was easier to get your hands on the dolls. Wish I had pics handy of all the dolls I had made I would share them. In time I am to inherit them back, when the time comes they are goingto my granddaughters when they are old enough to understand they aren't play dolls.

I dug the doll out and discovered that I was half right. The kit I bought actually had a much simpler dress pattern, I bought the Princess IV pattern separately.

I did not do much crocheting at the time and it shows. I had trouble getting the moccasins to come out the same size-right now I actually have three of them, small, medium and large.:lol I still need to find all the beads and do the fringe. I have a bad feeling that the easy part is over.:(

I took pictures of it but I don't think I am allowed to post photos yet and I don't have a photo hosting site.:think
