thanks empress busy bee for showing me this pattern!

I made this for my friend Janey who's pregnant right now. Her favorite color is orange. I was so happy with how it came out, and it only took a couple days. The yarn is sugar and creme, and the flower is microspun. I safty pinned the flower on, since microspun is acrylic and I didn't know how it'd react to the microwave.

I didnt' exactly get matching dyelots, but it breaks at what seems like a normal place, so it's not too bad.

You can be my friend, but I"ll warn you. I'm out of cotton yarn, so if you are expecting a heating pack, sorry. :-D

That's adorable, Honey.... :clap I wish you could have made something like that for me when I was pregnant but that might have been difficult:eek

And I guess I'd better get out and find that flax seed, lavender oil and lavender, or whatever is necessary to make the guts since I have the sewing machine (both mine and Ah Leah's) and I get to make the rest of this and then send it to Virginia so it can be sent to New York...

Truly a group effort here, folks! So anybody know where I can find this stuff in So Cal?:think

Thanks for the idea. Once things settle down for me, I need to make one for my cat. Yes, you read that right, my cat. She's 18 years old and her age is getting to her. She likes to sit on a heating pad when someone is using it (Don't worry, we cover it well so she won't get burned) and we've been trying to find something non electric she could use more on a daily basis on her own. This looks like something she would really like.

Paulette you can use rice instead of flax seed, only it can smell a bit when heated. I've been told that flax seed is most redily available in health food shops (well, in aus at least). If you haven't got a need for the rest of the lavendar oil drop that in the parcel for Leah's friend too. She can add more to the heat pack as she needs it or use it in other places to help relax while expecting :D

Very Cool! You can find the fillings at WholeFoods grocery or any health food store.

I bought my flax seeds at the QFC Grocery store here in Seattle ... but you can find them anywhere Bob's Red Mill products are sold .. I paid about $3 for a 24 ounce bag. if you have trouble finding the lavender oil .. let me know .. I pick it up at the Pike Market for $4 a half ounce. They also sell dried lavender at the farmers market stalls. Let me know if I can be of any help. Here is the link for the apothacary where I get my lavender oil and dried herbs: TenzingMomo.com (http://tenzingmomo.com/Qstore/)

Mom - they sell the dried lavender and flaxseed at trader joes, and the lavender oil (and probably dried lavender) at psychic eye. But, if you buy it there, it's probably cursed or something.

Very funny. "it's probably cursed or something" *in whiney voice* NO IT'S NOT! Now overpriced, probably, but not cursed *rolling eyes*

I'm gonna go the Trader Joe's route since that's a store we have around here and also Whole Foods... if those don't work then I'll take the internet route.

I appreciate the suggestion for using rice but was instructed by Ah Leah that the flax seed was her preference... I made bean bags filled with rice when the kids were litte - guess they were rice bags, and man they stunk when they got wet... shoulda used beans.:think

Well, Honey, they do NOT have the flax seed at Trader Joe's, Michael's, JoAnne's, Whole Food's or Psychic Eye... but I found it at Senses for the Soul :think for $7 for a 5-pound bag (bought two bags) and they had the lavender oil and five different varieties so I bought two... now I need to look at the pattern (again) and see what you want me to do with this stuff. Unless I hear otherwise I'm going to assume it came out the 'right' size, i.e., the size called for in the pattern...

Might make one of these little packs for myself... wanna make me a cover for me:manyheart ?

Remember Mommy loves you!

Pretty! I swear, if no one on here said anything about the dye lot changes, I would just think y'all had great design abilities with color! This is the 2nd or 3rd item I've just thought, "Oh, so cool!"
