I want to make a sling for my daughter to carry her babies and animals in but I can't find one except for adults. I'm a beginner crocheter so I'm not familiar with how to change patterns for sizes or I'd just work with the one I have. So I either need a doll sized pattern or I need someone to explain how to size a pattern waaaaaaaaay down. The pattern I found is here if anyone wants to look at it...

Thanks!

How big of a doll are you talking about? I'm thinking of designing one for New Born Nursery size baby doll and would love to have you try it out for me when I get it done--that is if it is the size you were looking for!

I think that sling doesn't work out to well, according to this site and a different pattern:

What you might do is find a purse or bag that's in the shape and size you want and modify it a little by leaving off the straps and adding sling straps where they should go. You can do it. You really can. :)

Here's one on freepatterns - it's a baby carrier backpack:

Donna, I'd be honored to try it out. Currently she mostly loves her beanie baby sized stuffed cats the most but she has some dolls that she would like to carry around too (they vary in sizes quite a bit). So I'd be willing to try anything you'd like me to. Just let me know.
Tiggerhale, Thanks for the link! It's not exactly what I was looking for but if I can't figure out how to do a proper sling, I'll definitely try that one! Too cute! :)
And Busy Bee - I just quickly scanned over your blog because, well, DH is out of town and kids are in bed and I'm kinda bored. LOL Mine is all about homeschooling(and probably boring to people who don't homeschool) or I'd offer to cure any potential boredom of yours too. :) Sorry to hear you broke your finger! I'm sure that's one of those things that is much more inconvenient than you realize until you actually *do* it. Hope you're healing fast and well. And I can see you're a sci-fi fan too. :) We gotta stick together. lol

Laurie, using the pattern you have got use a baby yarn and a 3mm hook.. that should make it smaller. Maybe it wont be quite small enough.. If not, go down another hook size. I personally find the easiest way to adjust patterns to smaller sizes is to use smaller yarn with the appropriate sized hook, and the reverse to make it bigger (bigger yarn with appropriate sized hook).
You could also try making one in wool and then felt it as felting reduces the size some what, only it's all guess-work as to just how much it will shrink.
