Howdy! Since it was 28degrees w/wind chill of 15degrees:wcold:flake this morning, my dh came in w/a cold nose from starting his work vehicle to warm it up. I suggested I could try to crochet him a 'nose warmer'.:laughrollHe, of course, turned down the offer, as did our 18 yr old son. But I am still tempted to come up with something, for a joke. Who knows, maybe I could sell a few up here in norhtern MN!:haha Any ideas?

Shhh... don't be saying that WC word, you're gonna jinx us! ;) That's twice todau I read about cold, cold weather and I know it's just around the corner for us too but man am I enjoying my denial.
A nosewarmer would crack me up. Maybe there are some halloween mask patterns out there to give you some ideas?

I froze myself this morning waking up to SNOW had to go defrost the van before loading the kids up for school. A nose warmer would be cute I may have to play around with my yarn and make some up for the kiddies.....shhhh I might need one too.

Maybe you can take the nose part off this eye mask:
http://www.geocities.com/knitwits_heaven/crochetedeyepatch.html
Maybe you can do the nose part of this ski mask:

If you can find an eye patch, that might work too. I looked but so far haven't really found one.

GAUGE36 sts = 4" in stockinette stitch
DIRECTIONSFixation is a very stretchy yarn. It takes a little getting used to, so expect it to feel odd to knit with at first. Pull it lightly snug as you work with it, but not taut. This leaves just enough spring in the fiber, but keeps your stitches uniform.
Wendy Johnson has documented the short-row toe process described below here (http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter02/FEATtiptoptoes.html), step-by-step with photos and description. Thanks, Wendy!
Nosewarmer
CO 20[25] sts.
P 1 row.
Begin short-row shaping as follows:
K to last st. Bring yarn forward. Sl last st purlwise. Move yarn to back of work. Slip last st back to left needle. Turn work.
P to last st. Move yarn to back. Sl last st knitwise. Bring yarn forward. Slip last st back to left needle. Turn work.
Continue in this manner, wrapping the NEW unwrapped last stitch until 8[10] wrapped sts are on each needle, leaving 4[5] sts live in the center.
Now k across work. Pick up wrap [it's the extra horizontal yarn laying over the usual vertical stitch] and then the stitch and k the two together. Turn work.
P to last st. Pick up wrap from the front of work and then the stitch and p the two together. Turn work.
Continue in this manner until all 20[25] sts are live again.
BO all sts.
Weave in ends.

That is too cute....I was thinking since it's soooooo close to halloween about making an elephant trunk or maybe a carrot for a snow man effect...

How about a nose of a pig? LOL. I thought of that because someone this morning on the radio said she got a pig nose, some pink make up, a blanket and her Halloween custom was a a pig in a blanket.
Of course it doesn't have to be pink...
Or how about finding a stuff animal pattern and using any nose, even a teddy bear nose would work and not be too "animalish". Then add a long chain to go around the head.

Hey, y'all,
I checked this one out, and while it wasn't what I was looking for :D , it looked like it may have great possibilities. It reads " Excellent for afternoon naps, night-shift workers or people with nasty migraines", so if anyone is in need of something for that purpose, ya might want to check it out!:scrachin

Didja have much snow? We only had a 1/4" or so that didn't melt right away, and then we had a freeze on top. (I have/had a 2nd cousin in Gillette, last I knew.) I bet if I made any nosewarmers, my family wouldn't use them! :no Maybe I could find out what they'd consider fashionable colors???

We haven't got much snow but it's very cold. Better go check my soup and sandwhich....When I dropped my son off I saw a kid all cuddle up in a blanket and was wishing I was home cuddle up with hook and yarn. I may play around with some ideas my old soon to be 13 might think it's silly but my 6 and 4 yr would prob like them.

Double2 it's against the forum rules to post a pattern that's not yours and to hotlink to pictures that aren't yours. ;)
The link to knitty is:
http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter02/PATTnosewarmer.html
You had a 2 at the end which messed it up.
Margie your link isn't working not sure why unless you copied direct from my post because it has ... in the URL.
Check my previous post for the correct link. :)
The animal nose things are a great idea. I'd forgotten about them. :lol

I made two of the nosewarmers from knitty for my sister, but I don't remember now if I knit them or crocheted them. I used Midnight (or is it Moonlight) Mohair from LB and added a stringy tassel thing on the tip too. I have hilarious pictures of her wearing them, but she'd kill me if I posted them.:lol

It's only bad because it doesn't pick up the entire URL. :)
