I have been looking all over in many books for a neck scarf. I find many for regular sized scarves but I would like to make one that is basically just for around the neck and there is a split in one of the sides where you would put the end through from the other side. Hopefully that is not too confusing.:hook

I don't know of a pattern on line, but I made one that was in the "American School of Needlework presents The Crochet Yearbook Volume 1" (c.2000) the collectible premiere issue and it is called a Neck Cozy on pg 16

I love is book, I have both volumes and made alot of things from them.

But then, maybe someone might know of an online pattern....

They're also called 'keyhole' scarves. If you do a google search you should find a couple sites. :)

the show "knitty Gritty" on DIY (its a knit one) had it. But you could check out their show list and maby just look at how theirs is made. Maby that would help. But I would say you could chain about 200 (for an adult with an "H" hook) and do about 4-5 rows dc all the way down, turning after each row, then about 2/3 way through a row, ch 14, skip about 13 sts and continue dc to the end of the row. That would give you a loop or space to pass through the other end for the design you wanted. Then just continue dc make sure in the ch space to do 13 dc across then continue dc as normal. It would be worked end to end instead of side to side. That's just how I would do it. Hope this helps.

:cheer I have a knitted one which I developed. I make them out of one ball of Eyelash Type yarn.
It has a tube rather than a slit to thread the end through.
I have also just developed one with a buttonhole about 6 inches from one end. It is super easy to make.
If you cannot find a crochet pattern, for what you need, let me know and I will make a pattern for you.

Here is a pic for you.
If you click on it, you may be able to see the rest of my album. Feel free to look if you want.
Have fun.

Here are several variations. The last two are knit. I made a crocheted version with a flower like the one from Knitty.
