I'm looking for double pointed knitting needles, preferably in sets of 5 but sets of 4 will work. I need sizes 7, 8 and 9 or any larger sizes. If anyone has any extras or has any sets that they no longer use I would love to buy them from you or trade. I don't care if they are aluminum, wood, bamboo or plastic.

You know what I do for dp needles, I go down to the craft dept. at Walmart and buy the birch dowels in the closest size to the needles I need. I cut them into whatever lengths I need the needles to be, sharpen them with a pencil sharpener and rub them down with some really fine sandpaper, you might need to put just a little paste wax on, but they work great for me.

I do the same thing and it works great. Chop sticks are handy for smaller sizes. I also use waxed paper to smooth after sanding.

Those are great ideas, but I live in a very small town. No Walmart. Our hardware store closed this summer. Next town is 70 miles away. I'm hoping someone would have some they could part with!

I can't! But http://www.knitpicks.com does sell them pretty cheaply.

Let me see what I have in my needle jug, Aunty M, I bought a set of Denise Interchangeables awhile back and don't use my other needles very often. If I can help at all I'll send you a PM, okay?

Thank you Jamie for the size 7's and 8's! I ordered the size 9's at Joann's so now I have what I need. Thank you again!
