Does anyone know of a pattern or stitch that makes the "magic scarf" ?
it's a round tube that stretches so that you can wear as a scarf, but also as a hood w/scarf.

Design your own Mobius Sacrf (http://www.bellaonline.org/articles/art6219.asp) at BellaOnline. Just found this a couple of days ago and haven't tried it yet, but it might help =)

3 way scarf pattern (http://www.coatsandclark.com/fun_and_free/yarn/LW1445.htm)....knit though. I don't think this could be crocheted and work the same way. There just isn't THAT much stretch in crocheted stitches verses knit stitches.

If you do a Google search, I believe that you will find another pattern under "Moebius shawl."
Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. I appreciate your effort. I thought of it then did nothing. Am I the only one feeling lazy right now?? I can't seem to do anything too productive. Maybe this is just my normal speed, and I was on hyper drive for Christmas:rotfl
I spend far too much time on my laptop, and not enough time crocheting. There's a New Year's resolution in there somewhere. LOL:w-snow

I saw this in the Crochet A Day 2007 caolendar (Mar 2) and it's free online. It's in Hairpine lace, and not real warm, but gives you can idea if you need another one.

I think it's free, but you need to order or download it, sorry. I didn't realize that until now and I still think it would be fine.

I think you can make one on a nifty knitter... A friend of mine got me a $6 one from the county fair and it sheds like crazy so I can't wear it, though I think it would be great to make it out of a nicer yarn (like Lacette or some yummy fingeringweight) I could always frog it and try to figure out how it's made =)

....and here's a free pattern!
ok, must stop googling and GO HomE!! have a good weekend, all!
